  • retroactive profile changes?

I recently changed my profile, and saw that it worked.
I noticed that whenever I posted to a thread that I had previously posted to, the profile next to all my postings changed to the new one. in threads I haven't posted to since I changed it, it doesn't change to the new version.
    What Gives?
Any man can be a Father, but it takes someone special to be a BEAST

I was just about to point out that Horsie is simply making excuses in advance for why he will suck at Civ III...

That's the way we supposed it to work always. And the UBB scripts also work that way, so don't complain about this here, no changes will follow anyway.

Don't all the profiles of people get updated on a thread when the thread is rewritten, ie, someone posts or edits. Until then the thread will not be modified and everything will stay as it was when the last modification was made? That would probably explain this phenomenon...

Good explanation. But, it IS possible to make it update even in old threads, by some programming work being put additionaly in.

Anything that rewrites the file - including editing posts, or indexing the forum, will cause the profile change to happen. The only place it doesn't is if the thread is locked.

Of course. Files for locked posts are never rewritten, that's what the Lock function does.

I don't think Father Beast intended to complain, he made an observation and asked a question.

Also, I don't think there's any need for irritation or hostility over this.

Just an observation on my part, not a complaint...

I didn't say he complains. Simply a peace of stupid sarcasm (again)!

I guess sometimes it happens, and sometimes it doesn't. check this thread:
                    http://apolyton.net/forums/Forum22/HTML/000560.html?8

it has entries from andz83, chaos warrior, AND ecthelion.

                    Go figure.
