• UGO sites in trouble?

    Have a look at this:

quote:

I'm the webmaster of one of the largest websites on the UGO Network. This past month UGO gave notice to all affiliates that they say all guarantees are gone and will only make payments up to February's ad traffic at half rate. Yes they are currently 2 months behind on payments. (This includes HardOCP, ShackNews, BluesNews, VoodoExtreme, Telefragged, OldManMurray, my website and many others. UGO handed out contracts last week saying we must forfeit all our rights to previously owed money and rights to sue them to get those last 2 checks. Yes that's right, if we don't sign a paper saying we wont sue them they will withhold 2 months of payments they already owe and have available to them. Does anyone have any realistic advice for all these webmasters? A lawsuit just doesnt seem like it would really net any cash.

I assume it is the same for apolyton.

Obviously UGO is in trouble, or they would not try a desperate and dirty trick like that.

Desperate trick certainly, but not dirty. There would obviously be nothing left to take in a suit.

I can't say I'm too terribly surprised. UGO has hideous navigation and no content of interest, they seem to be more interested in selling style than a website. Good affiliates don't help the core's problem.
      All syllogisms have three parts.
Therefore this is not a syllogism.

I have never visited any of the UGO sites, none of them holds any interest for me. I am thinking of buying some stuff from Chips and Bits though.

Wouldn't this be better in the Apolyton forum?

While I admit it's mean, I hope that those people go bankrupt and are found to have committed some horrible fraud and rot in prison for the rest of their miserably short lives. It still wouldn't BEGIN to pay back what they did by forcing those moronic ads on us...

If the costs of running site gets too large, you may have to cut down on the non-essential parts of the site.
Ie everything goes except the OT and freeciv forums. Maybe then more people would post in the freeciv forum .

While I cannot comment directly on the contents of the news story that has been brought up, I can tell you that neither Apolyton or GameStats as a whole is in any major peril at this point in time.
