Why didnt you just say "DL" instead of "the DL" then?! Hah! I have confounded you with my logic!!!

When in the middle of a conversation, intials are easier then writing out the Demented Lemming. When you first picked your handle everybody was on your case about the DL thing. I'd have thought you would have figured it out by now!

I would prefer if you would just call me 'demented'. I think that suits me better than DL...

Christ, give Lancer a break. So he retaliates at a spiteful little troll thread aimed at his marriage? Who wouldn't? What makes a call on the moderators any more heinous than a torrent of aggressive abuse aimed at the perpetrator? I'd have chosen the latter option, but I'm buggered if I'm going to suggest that gives me any kind of moral superiority and I'll happily deride anyone who suggest it does.

Watching Lancer get turned into some sort of pariah is pretty infuriating. He really doesn't deserve it. The thread in question is long-dead, so could the casual character assassination possibly cease? If it's not too much trouble, gentlemen......

As for the spam issue- DL I admire your crusading zeal and I'd like to invite you to check out Amnesty International where you can get the chance to apply it to something that matters.

Then perhaps changing your entire user name to 'demented' will help...

I agree with Laz... the attacks on Lancer have gone a bit too far. He defended his family... so what?

MtG, do what ya gotta do to keep order in this lawless town . I haven't disagreed yet (well at least openly... I'm too scared - j/k )

Here's an interesting perspective: Maybe if Lancer would conduct himself a bit differently, he wouldn't be under attack...

According to the Faq, personal attacks are a no-no, to say nothing of being tre' tackey. Some men are more used to direct action, and get easily fustrated if they can't get at their tormentor. Not everyone is good at clever reparte', and cannot answer the constant attacks on themselves and their families with any effectiveness. I don't know the man, but it does seem that he is fed up with being harassed. Maybe he could handle it better, I don't know, but then again, maybe he shouldn't have to.

Hey, now I would like to make a comment about something. I have received notification off Ming that I have been said to be one of the most complained about posters on this board, for some reason, yet no one, NO ONE has ever had the guts to say anything to my face on any of these matters (except the mods) with very few exceptions.

If someone has a problem with me, I would rather they come and tell me about it rather than me ponder who the hell is whining about me behind my back. It gets decidedly irritating. I think that my strongly anti-theistic stand offends many religious people who lack a strong constitution. Well if this is the case, come and tell me face-to-face in the discussion. I'm sure your faith has had to take stronger knocks than my polemics; there is no need to go 'running to daddy'.

Be a man, if you don't like what I say, square up to me. If you think I am a spammer, PM me...don't squeal, because if I find out, well, I won't be best pleased...

                      PH,
Boy are you going to be in trouble now for picking on people who squeal to the mods...

It's their right, especially if they're being attacked. It doesn't matter if they're right or wrong about a perceived attack, you just don't question these things!!

The official policy of this site is that (some) complaints be made by PM or Email, for you whiners who cannot reconcile yourself to that policy piss off and go elsewhere to where policy fits your personal view of conflict resolution. That said I, personally see very few occaison where complaint about offense is needed; I am pretty hard to offend.
As for spam accusations against PH, I have publicly POSTED several satiric remarks about thousands of cherryade posts, and have posted similar remarks about other spammers. Spammers are a pitiful object of humor to others, and naturally attract such attention. Such derision, in the long run, may reduce spamming more than official means.
As for the silly challenges of offenders who say "fight me to my face", I would suspect that often when offense has reach that point to complain, the offendee now veiws you as beneath their dignity, and not worthy of direct confrontation, and that you should have your lease tugged by an admins, as if you were a naughty dog. But I expect the psycology vaires greatly from offendee to offendee, and I have little experiance more recent than teen age years to draw on in that area.

Yeah, I'm tired of hearing about it, and the group piling on Lancer after the fact when he's not here is pretty assinine, so don't get too holier-than-thou in your name calling. It's a dead issue, drop it! (BTW, I think a more careful reading of Lefty slams the lot of you jumping on Lancer, not Lancer himself)

And Provost - drop the schoolyard bit. IF someone chooses for whatever reason to address things with you, fine. If they go to the moderators, that's part of our job, and fully within their rights. Nobody has an obligation to you to take things up with you.

If you think it's religious people "whining" about your atheistic views, trolling and mocking, that's more revealing of your self-view and wishes than anything else, since you have zero basis for knowing who complains about you, why, or if you specifically are even singled out, as opposed to a general complaint about a group of posters or spammers.

Any poster has the right to complain directly to the moderators or admins about anything on this site they have a problem with, and that's the end of the story. Period. So get over it.

                              Okay, I'm over it.

Until there's a problem with the poster in question again, and believe me there will be. You do realize this isn't a passing phenomenon, MtG?

People who time and time again get into trouble may eventually have to take part of the blame for it IMO.

But let's hope for an aggression- and complaint-free time to come. We always have hope.

Some things here have a long history, yes.

Personally, so that things like this don't take up so much of our time, I'm inclined to take a much more strict and broader approach to it, especially if the same things flare up again with some or all of the same people.
