  • I really enjoy this site.

Many posters seem to be getting cranky lately about some little attribute or non service here that upsets them. I sometimes have suggestions of what changes I might prefer, but I REALLY like the site. It is my favorite on the entire web. I enjoy the gamming rescoures, the community, and the forums. I am very grateful for it. I am also pleased that it is free, but it is VALUABLE and I would pay a fee for it. I know that the Admins & Mods have day jobs and that users here will not get the service they might exspect (but still probably not get) at a commercial site with a full time staff. I am pleased with the attention I do get, even the occaisional boundary warnings by Ming. If all the percieved injustices or perceived slow service that has been complained about in the 4 months I have been here had been placed on me, I WOULD STILL LIKE this site. I believe some posters here would benefit from an analysis of their expectations of this site, particulaly with respect to the known preferences of the owners.
Thank you MarkG & DanQ. I am very grateful for what you provide to me. If I had any IT skills I would volunteer them to assist you. I have money: if revenue ever becomes a problem, I would be pleased to participate in a voluntary fee program.
Thank you to the Moderaters, who do a unpleasant job, with uncommon good grace and humor.

Ditto. You're the people we love to hate.
I'm sure when Lefty isn't cavorting in his vault full of money (a la` Scrooge McDuck) his frightening existence is indeed heightened by this place.
You may be keeping a true madman in check
        Good work, Apolyton.

A really good moan is (almost) as great a pleasure as a really good cup of tea.

          And sometimes folk moan about

          1. things which matter to them;

          2. things which, in their heart, they hold dear.

In a way, we're really like the people who vote with their feet - the fact that we're still here (or have returned ) says a lot about the site's brilliance and addictive quality.

If we'd ever get really upset, we'd stop visiting for good. To my knowledge only ottok's ever done that and succeeded - and that wasn't even because of the admins or mods...

While I wish that was indeed the case...
Many people have left Apoltyon because of disagreements with the moderation style. And I'm sure people will leave in the future for the same reason.

No matter what moderation policy is used, people will disagree... even with the whole issue of having moderation in the first place.
Again... we try to do our best...

The site enjoys high levels of traffic at this point.
It has been increasing ever since the merger. So yes, they must be doing something right

                Ming,

In October 2000, right after the Area25/Spamgate event, many people said they would never come back to ACS, just like me. I had posted my Goodbye thread right before that event anyway, but now I was really pissed off. Over the weeks, I calmed down, and the addiction returned. Many people returned to Apolyton, although they had claimed they couldn't be arsed by this place anymore

Don't worry, those who are really leaving are just boring people

I'll always express an opinion on a matter, I am a fairly strong willed character, but I am not a quitter. Despite some of the disagreements I have, I have still never threatened to leave this place (although I have thought about it for split seconds). I am not budging. Call me stubborn if you will

                    On that we can agree

I have no problem with people who question how things are done... I respect their right to disagree.
This forum is filled with threads on that subject.

However, the rules are the rules... And it is my job to enforce them as I see fit. If the Admin see fit to change the rules... that's fine too

So keep those letters and comments coming

I'd like to nominate this thread for having the highest winky smiley/post ratio ever.

If we all keep bating Ming a little, I'll write Guiness first thing in the morning.

We had threads with more winky smileys, Winston. Trust me on this one...

and on CGN, we had a thread where only I posted at least 100 LOL smileys... what a funny thread that was!

No, CW, that thread was not funny. It was merely annoying.

Anyway, I'm still addicted to this place. However, they'd better not even suggest charging a fee. While withdrawal might be painful, there are other sites out there.

Oh no, they've infected my post! I'ts contagious!
