I didn't bother to read all messages. Just the begining of EVC's controversial thread. What has the liking of someone of the other race to do with civ?

And why is so much energy directed in degenerating Apolyton to one more of the millions of stupid forums that are all over the internet?

Apolyton is the best games forum I have ever found. Like I said I have not read all the messages in this particular thread but I have read my share of Apolyton's messages. And they rock. Why change it.

I have an advice to give to Ming and Mark: stop bothering about it and stop wasting energy on replying. The point is well taken and well established. Move on to other things. This is a huge site I imagine you must have a million things to take care of. So let's get serious.

No disrespect to EVC and the others. It's easy, just post somewhere else. I like Apolyton as it IS. The admins seem to agree. Case closed and deleted.
And don't worry, democracy will not colapse.

Ming, I would like to make a serious request with respect to threads that fall into this category. If a thread turns into a spam fest or flame war through no fault of the thread originator, please do not just delete the thread. Having seen at ACOL that EVC's racism thread could also develop into a serious discussion, I do not feel that you were justified in deleting it without an explanation. In cases like this, especially when you catch it before it has fully degenerated, you have several other options besides deletion:
Editing/deleting the offending posts.
Issuing a warning.
Closing the thread and explaining why it was closed.

I realize that these take longer than just deleting the thread, but many of us would truly appreciate the additional effort. It is somewhat disturbing to post one's thoughts on the internet, and return to find that those thoughts have vanished without a trace, as if they had never existed.

Please consider this, and don't be quite so quick to click on "Delete Topic" in the future. If you disagree with what I say here, please let me know.

To be fair to Ming. ACOL's different to Apolyton. I am pretty sure he was right that on 'poly that would have turned nasty. Most posters on ACOL have pretty similar views on that kind of thing, there was never likely to be much disagreement. If there had been then it would probably have died fairly quickly into an agree to disagree situation.

I hate saying this... but deal with it.
This is not a full time paying job for me. While I spend a lot of time on it, I still have a real job, a family, and a real life.
It is just totally unreasonable to ask me, or anybody what you are asking for. It is far easier to just delete the thread, instead of going post by post. With the amount of traffic on this site, I could spend every waking minute doing what you suggest. And guess what... I don't have the inclination to do it either.

I'm sorry if you "feel" I wasn't justified in my action. But it's just your opinion. I still feel totally justified in my action, and will do it the same way next time the situation comes up.

That's the way it is...

I understand that what you do is indeed a lot of hassle. Nobody actually requires you to sacrifice your real life for the sake of modding a forum.
