Religion seems to generate lots of interest in the Off-Topic Forum. Why not start a Religious Forum, put Ted in charge.

It's obvious that the answer is going to be 'no'.
This is a gaming site, so anything that doesn't have anything to do with gaming falls into the broad category of "off-topic".

Having said that I feel fairly confident the admins are not going to be excited about adding a religion forum

There are many places where you can go to discuss religions. Apolyton goes through cycles on all types of topics... religion, politics, sports, spam, awards, questions, polls... that doesn't mean every different topic needs it's own forum

The 'D' part of it is. At least, the last time I checked, 'Diplomacy' referred to the classic board game.

No, a silly idea. It is an off-topic discussion issue, one which comes up now and again. It fits in the OT, it belongs in the OT and I couldn't see any purpose in moving it myself to a new topic. I think this is just people who want a fancy title after their name

I wasn't looking for a fancy title. Just wanted to clean up O/T.

Though the true reason why we don't really like religion in this community is that we are all Civ lovers, or at least the members we should accept are, and Civilization is, as we all know, not a creationist game. If you don't believe me, find the narrated Civ1 intro from the Civ1 section .

So there's some reason for ya!

The reason why I don't like religion on Apolyton is because it has no place. I have a religion and am faithful to it but I don't think I should be telling a bunch of strangers they have to believe how I do. Some can argue trying to be a witness, then simply say what you are and why and stop trying to force people to believe. It is quite pathetic.

Well, I foolishly started a thread in the OT, examining the rise of religion as the "in" subject and, of course, Ming closed it down, redirecting me to this thread instead. He was right to do that, since I was acting like some guy in an SUV complaining about traffic and pollution.

Of course Allemand's proposal is ridiculous, but you don't need me to point that out, do you?

As for civ, it is definitely biased in favour of christianity. In civ2, Michelangelo's chapel is one of the most powerful wonders while the Oracle is one of the most useless. Ctp has the priest and the televangelist, two quite powerful non-conventional units.

                      So there!
