  • Male/Female "ranking" system

Nobody ever likes my ideas, so i don't know why i bother posting them. but i post them anyway.

I was just thinking. . we have the settler - diety ranking system.

Some of these are by default male ranks. IE, king, prince, whatever. How about, in a posters profile, and/or when they register, have a selection saying are you male or female. And then that will change what default ranking system the script uses.

This is possible, as Coug has done it over at the Frontier (we have I believe 10 diffeent ranking sytems). I'm not sure of the exact code he used, only that it was possible.

What is the address for the froniter?

Good idea about the male, female checks. I thought this was already implemented, however???

Nah, it's a good idea... and I believe Markos mentioned a while ago he was going to look into that as soon as he got a chance.

What's the point? There's about 5 regularily posting females on apolyton, and most of them have custom titles already anyway. We've got the Apolyton Princess and Empress and what not. And I'm sure Tiamat will eat my head now for using her in a generalization.

Besides, everyone always claims that titles and postcount don't matter anyway.

But I kick that ball, and I pray it goes straight,
If it does, then Coach says, "Good job number eight."

Wrong! There are about 5 whom we know are female. There are others who don't post on the OT/apolyton forums, also there are some who post on the the OT whom people tend to overlook because they haven't reached 'king'.

Well, then the ladies should come out and voice this issue for themselves if they find it important. I'm sure Mark or Dan could find the time to throw in another hack if there was popular demand from those who would benefit from it. The female posters are after all Apolytons most under-represented but highly respected/needed minority. They are the only counterbalance to the macho crap that runs rampant throughout the OT.

i think some of them would rather not draw attention to themselves or what gender they are.

                        Wishful thinking?

I wonder how many undeclared females there are at Apolyton?

Good idea, but I don't think it's that much of a problem. The guys are pretty good about customizing titles for those of us who don't wish to be mistaken for men!

My point exactly. Give the ladies custom titles if they want them - they are special enough around here to deserve them. If they wish to stay "incognito", it's their business.
