  • Mozilla 0.6 and Apolyton

I have just found that Mozilla came out with a new version, 0.6, which is supposedly same as Netscape 6. I am downloading it now. Has anybody used it to browse Apolyton? Any comments?

At first glance, it seems to be better than Netscape 6.. haven't used it for very long though... so I'll wait a bit to give a better judgement.

At least my go-box doesn't seem to be jumping around on my screen anymore................

        ................

edit: and the minute I post that, my go box is on the other side of the screen

          Ok.. It totally SUCKS

Did anyone else notice how badly it messes up the Apolyton message boxes? I can't even properly edit my msgs anymore.

At least the screen fonts are bigger than the one in Netscape. I can also enter my messages fine.

            So far so good.

EDIT: I don't seem to have any problems editing my messages either, and my pull down menu (the "Go" box) is fine.

Works great for me. Running the Linux binaries on a heavily customized Mandrake 7.0, kernel 2.4.8.

I've already found it more stable than old Netscape 4.7, and finally I can get the the most out of java and flash without crashimg my browser. Moz.6 has quite a memory print when its running, but I threw in another 256M DIMM a few weeks back, so I've got plenty to spare now. As for performance, it easily beats in speed any version of IE or Netscape I've used with this hardware on any OS. The 56k line isn't exactly blazing with any browser, but this beats old 4.7 for sure. I haven't found any clitches in the interface yet, but the browser still crashes occasionally when weird content is thrown at it (one of the banners on Apolyton trips it before the first image loads fully. Somebody had a thread on it here...).

If you still use Netscape 4.7x, the Moz 0.6 is deffenitely worth the download.

                Narck,

You're right. I have problems editing long passages directly in a textarea box. It's a bad practice to do so anyway, though they should fix the bug

As many posters have found out it's better to use a text editor to enter long messages, since your brower can crash at any time (IE included).

Another bug is I don't get to see the previous posts while relying even if the thread contains less than 25 messages. *shrug* Yeah it still got bugs, that's why it's version 0.6 .

                K.,

                Been lurking around here?

I don't like it very much... btw, could someone tell me where the location bar is hidden in this browser?

Right after I posted above I got the Hop to Go Button problem again. This is what it looks like:

Where is my Go button? And I couldn't even click on the Hop To field to try and select another Forum...

Haha, the browser screws up your apolyton experience? Haha, I hate to say it but all that does is point to one sided coding.

                          Narck,

Hm, that looks weird. Mine looks all right, though I am using the "Modern" theme. You could try to see if that helps you any. To set the theme, go to the "Preferences" menu.

What location bar are you talking about?

Oh that. That's really messed up. What OS are you using? First thought is to deinstall and install again.
