  • Images in OT

I suppose that direct imaging in OT posts has been disabled both for UBB and HTML cf other forums eg Stories and Diplomacy?

Just for the OT, I think.
IIRC the only reason Markos once agreed to turn on the HTML in the OT, was because he found a way to disable images

In my recent tries (in the dark, so to speak) his solution was effective all right. The relevant HTML reference <IMG SRC=..ALT="IMG SRC="> was completely wiped out!

Edit: How right you are. Here's the demo that it works in this forum

But your picture link is broken!

No, in Australia we don't live with kangaroos and koalas in our backyards... Despite any stupid advertisments you may see to the contrary... (And no, koalas don't usually speak!)

I was trying to quote the essence of the HTML tag (something like (IMG SRC...) except with the arrows), but it immediately recognises it here whereas it was just deleted in the OT post.

I'm quite sure you can use images.

            This is a test:

            Edit: Seems to work fine....

            have you tried using [ IMG ] http : // site / a.gif [ / IMG ] (without the spaces)?

Look P. the title of this thread has to do with the OT Forum. I'd be very happy if you could demonstrate this in a post to that forum

I believe that the ban on images resulted from a thread entitled 'The World's Most Beautiful Women' or something similar, which attracted many pictures of Anna Kournikova et al. Unfortunately, it was also extremely large, and thus a constraint on server space...

The ban on images was put on the OTF because people abused it. Typical

It is still available in other forums...

Yeah, typical. You can hardly abuse anything these days without the abusive actions being prohibited.

So can we have a world's most beautiful women thread in this forum? Let's face it, no good site is without one.

The question was asked just to clarify what is in place. With the sort of hyperactivity and impulsive behavior by some in OT I would certainly endorse what has been imposed. I had thought that they might have just limited the size of the image file but I guess the content would be much harder to automatically exclude.

OK, sorry. I just assumed that if it works here, it should work in the OT.
