Any chance threads might be "sticky-fied " more often?

I think a direct link to the Yearbook itself would be better, don't you Lancer?
<img src="/images/blue1.gif" width=100% height=1></font></td></tr></table></center>I agree with Legman... ( <e>)( ) for the following reason: whereas each of the sticky threads (Apolytoners' House, birthday calendar, age faq, and login changes archive) all have the relevant information inside the thread, the thread concerning the yearbook is actually only a link to that yearbook, Since that's the case, a link in the announcement would work much better because announcements are visible in all forums.

I do think putting an announcement in the top left corner (not to be confused with news items in the top right corner, since those disappear from view in a matter of days) for a certain period of time will almost certainly give the yearbook more attention than a sticky thread in the OT will, and that's the ultimate goal, I would think

Well, perhaps both Narck. Making it sticky is an attention getter. Even if it were done for only a few days, and Legman's link was left up longer.

Anyway, doesn't much matter. This thread doesn't seem to be getting the attention of either Mark or orange.

He has been busy... I'm sure he will be looking in the Apolyton Forum when he gets a minute to spare

Yes but Lancer, the yearbook is a crock
Many people aren't in it, don't like it etc. This proposal is divisive.

btw: narck I'm not die hard OT only. I just didn't realize that this thread was about my yearbook. I go to Civ 3 and Apolyton usually once a day. But I tend not to post as much.

My two cents worth on the stickies:

Up until now I have not really thought too much about them, but after a little reflection, I think that I agree with Ming in that stickies are most useful for urgent Forum related annoucements (that may be reading into his opinion and should not be taken as a qoute off a stone tablet). I placed a sticky on the top of the Mac forum as I get too may notes from people not being able to find the Mac web page ( a problem that seems to have subsided thanks to either the sticky or MarkG modifying the Civ2 page link image). I think that use is appropriate as it serves as a specific tool related to the Forum and Site.

What about incredibly cool stuff like the Yearbook (now I gotta' scan a pic of myself!) or tremendous projects like Karen's House? I think that they are best served by news articles and links. I almost never visit OT (seems a bit "wild-west" for me) and the ONLY reason that I crawled out of my cave was the ACS News article. I would assume that links as suggested by Narck et.al. above would also serve as mass appeal.

Boy, lot o' words for 2 cents!
