    alright dammit those advertisments are offending me

    How dare they bad mouth AC/DC. They might not have much talent, but they rock

    I'm boycotting ugo even though I've never been there.

    This is actually the first time since I've registered that I've seen the ads - and I have to say that the site looks much better without them - the colours of the ads don't match the colour scheme of the site.

      Yes- if it isn't to much trouble could we not have the pictures of a naked Lara Croft as well. It's rather embarrassing when accessing the site in a public place.

              I use WebFree on my Mac. The PC has more versions available - AtGuard, Intermute, Naviscope and Symantec NIS2000, for example. A good search engine should take you to them. Apparently there's one for Linux users, too. It's called Ad Zapping with Squid.

                    Like I said before - the ads don't fit in well at all with the white/grey colour scheme of Apolyton. Without the site looks much better...

                      I've been able to see the ads for the last day because, for unknown reasons, my computer is preventing the Proxomitron from connecting to the Internet. Coincidentally, Netscape is crashing far more often than usual.

                          My, the speed! Proxomitron is fantastic.

                          Only slight problems:

                          1) My uni server has a list of proxies to automatically use which I'm supposed to pick up. Can't use it anymore.

                          2) I seem to have lost the reply, reply in new, edit, IP logged icons.

                          Any ideas? Lews Therin?

                              You can - by various means - list the various addresses of the ad suppliers that you wish to block. The software simply blocks the download of the ads without interfering with the download from the particular site you're visiting. They're particularly handy for ISPs with download limits. My earlier post in this thread lists some of the available software. Use a search engine to find the software web sites and download whichever one you choose.
