Builder, that quote was a reference to the fact that I am Ming's evil Twin Brother.,

But anyone here that has read my posts knows that I don't, and never have been a fan of post counts.

Mao was a perfect example 10,000 in a year and then less than 100 for the next two months, what was the motivation there? It certainly wasn't content.

And for the rest of you, I personally thought this was a Ming ploy to guarentee that I would never be a deity like him , we're so competitive.

To all those that give a **** about post counts,
it's too bad it was just an experiment, hahahahha

And Mark, ever MP post to set up a game, meant a game was being played with the opportunity to learn something new to post about. (whether it be a tale or a strategy. Most of those players did post meaningful things when games ended), which has much more value than a one line "oh suck me" line in the OT. IMHO
(just couldn't pass up on that) Every post has equal value and I could care less about the counts. My lackluster couple of thousand posts for as long as I've been here speaks for itself.

Mark, yes you were quick, it was edited out before I finished posting. I went back and thought I had imagined that.

I can see the logic in this. Personally, I think the OTF can have a lot more useful material then, say, Civ2-General. If this was targeted against only two-line responses, I could understand it. But this also affect people who want to have intelligent conversations there. I don't think post counts are important, but they might be for some people.

Besides, the OTF is the only way to get an idea to a vast number of Apolytoners, and killing off the interest is like doing away with the town square. Its possible, but expect a lot of people to leave town.

And stop spamming this thread Builder...

Posts counts are Maos life. You want to be like Mao?!

*Mao lies limp before his keyboard, the life force seeping out of him. Unless the post count is turned back on, he may die *

                      Explanation for the above post:

Maybe this is like that scene in the Neverending story where the boy has to imagine Fantasia or it will be destroyed by the Nothing and the little Queen of Fantasia, in this case Mao , will die.

The "little boy" would of course be Mark G Only you can save Mao!!

This and murg's post on the previous page sums up the situation very well. You can have a some people post on the on-topic fourms only, or you can have that, as well as a vibrant OT community (who, just admit guys/gals, live on post counts ).

the idea is that on-topic posts show the actual participance in the civ(remember the word) community, while off-topic posts are "simple" conversation(which doesnt mean spam)
if the titles should mean something, they should be related with the actual nature of these forums

                          <img src="/images/blue1.gif" width=100% height=1></font></td></tr></table></center>

Haven't you been telling us all along that titles and post counts are meaningless? Why the sudden change?

If you believe they are essentially meaningless, what does it matter where the post count comes from? If not, why have you often said they are?
