    trying to be funny or not, here is the answer i mailed to Somgu when i recieved the article...

    ///
    Apolyton continues to has the position among civ sites that it has because some people continue to work much harder that anyone else

    If someone wants to succeed as much as we have, all they have to do is find the time and patience to do as much stuff as we have done for as long as we have done. And they dont have to "catch up" in all the games we cover. The new games that will come out in the next 2 years present opportunites to those who really want to do something good.

    Beyond that, with our hosted sites program we actually give the "chance of success" to other civ sites. I dont think we are casting in a shadow here...

    Finally, about the forum rules. threads rarely have to be closed/deleted from the on-topic forums, while what goes on in the off-topic forum is irrelevant

    perhaps i'm starting to loose my sense of humour?

      I think you probably are a bit, MarkG, but it's understandable. From my reading, the article is aiming for tongue-in-cheek, but it's pretty heavy-handed stuff. I wouldn't lose any sleep.

        Please edit your writing for spelling and grammar. It really detracts when you don't...
        Otherwise...you have a right to your opinion, but I don't necessarily agree with it--obviously, the hard work put into this site makes it the best, not some Draconian stranglehold on the games scene.

            Somgu said "no fowl language" was allowed at Apolyton.

            What? Is this true? We aren't allowed to speak in chicken? I happen to speak chicken and a smattering of duck *quack, quack* (same to you)

            What if a chicken, duck or goose registered? Wouldn't they be allowed to speak in their native tongue? Should the FAQ be updated?

              M&DQ, the title for both this column and raingoon's is "Column #130: Into the Mystic." You might want to update that.

              Therefore this is not a syllogism.
