Note from the webmasters: We are not 100% certain on the intention of the author, but he added in a mail to us: "I was trying to make my little article just a funny little thing to read, nothing serious. I was joking about Apolyton like it is some 'big threat' to the CivSite community, kind of like the Soviet Union was considered to the world. All of the other sites are like Vietnam and Eastern Germany, helpless to Apolyton's power"

Apolyton. All Civ gamers/net browsers know the name. What comes up when we think of the name? It's a huge maze of a website, with huge, complicated sections and a thriving urban discussion board with over 6,700 registered 'Apolycitizens'. Apolyton casts a black shadow over all other Civilization websites, destroying their chance of success with it's size and power.

Apolyton recieves news before any other site. It has more features and options than any other website. My prediction is that when Civilization III comes out Apolyton will grow even more. It will be swamped by Civ fans seeking information on Civ III. It will be a prosperous time of celebration and new information about Civ III. Civ fans will probably start researching strategies, cheats, and ideas for Civ III and sharing them on Apolyton's forum as soon as they buy the game.

Some think Apolyton is slowly becoming less active and falling below what it was when it started. That may be true, but it won't matter for Apolyton. It is allready so large no other website will be able to catch up.

I have complemented Apolyton this entire time, but not all is so great. The Apolyton discussion board is very strict. No fowl language is allowed, and the moderators may delete any post they feel like. Many other websites are considered no more than 'provinces' of Apolyton. If the other websites want to catch up they will have to pick up the pace. They may even consider forming some kind of alliance to resist Apolyton. Something like the 'Civilization Website Alliance', or CWA.
