    *Manages to pull foot out of mouth*

    Okay, okay, it's much better! I was wrong! The quality of the OT is 10 times what it was before this rule!
    It is certain; my conviction gains infinitely the moment another soul chooses to believe in it.

      I concur, this feature has saved the discussion level on the OT! People still don't agree with me, but at least now it isn't lost in SPAM!

              I like the new rule. It has cut down on the useless spam threads.
              Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, as it did Obi Wan's apprentice.

                Make it 3/24 hours instead of 1/8 hours and i'll be happy.

                it's a pain in the ass to have to wait just to post a second thread. Sometimes i have more than one good idea.

                i like the limit, but 3/24 hours isn't asking too much, is it?

                  The modified code for implementing this is sitting in the Freeciv forum, waiting to be added.
                  main(i,_){for(!_||(--i,main(i+2,i["FHhhTBFHdhTBFBQT\2TBF&]zRF$hh*:FHhh+&FBIsbDF"]));
                  i&&_>1;printf("%s",_-70?_&1?"[]":" ":(_^=_,"\n")),_/=2);} /*- Mark -*/

                    Here's a perspective from newer eyes. I am truly bedazzled by the posting and new thread rate in OT and second all that Ming says in the OT courtesy FAQ.

                    Many of the threads become clique property and an outsider feels completely excluded. Surely there are more appropriate private venues like chat and ICQ for basically private exchanges. I'm aware that much of the posting triviality and hyperactivity is to achieve a higher title ranking for the poster and that counter-action through post-count reduction is in place. Of course it is extra work for the moderators but perhaps a heftier penalty (higher reduction criteria) could be a possible deterent?

                      Don't worry about it tonic. Just wade in and post if you want to. Ignore the spam-meisters...they can be quite yawnsome at times. I know I welcome another persons evaluation of a situation (unless you are a right-winged biblebasher )

                        Yeah tonic... just jump right in. And, if that doesn't work for you, just start your own thread on a subject that interests you

                          GP asked me to bump this. So I am. Note that this in no way implies I endorse this thread. Because I don't.

                            Well, since this thread got bumped (funny, I never saw it before) I guess I'll weigh in. I like things the way they are, 1/8 hours is great!

                              I disagree! As I have said in other threads, this is the same as 1 thread/day for most people. We will never know how many worthwhile threads have been lost forever because of this rule.
                              Note to Ming: In the OT we don't always discuss things because they are important; we discuss them because we feel they are worth discussing. This is a subtle distinction, but a significant one.

                                Murgatroyd...
                                Right now, the rule is working well for Apolyton.
                                And that's what really matters. If the owners want to change it, they will.
