MarkG: I assume there has already been a hack posted on the UBB hacking forum?

Thank you for trying to make the rule saner.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

      Good work MarkG!

Big improvement. I'd still like to see a way around the 150 post restriction (if you've used all of your threads), but it's still much better.

Dan, yes, this hack is not my work(I've only made a small change to allow admins and mods not to be limited) as almost all added features...

Hmmm, there's one thing I'm not clear on. When you say 1 post/8 hours does that mean if I post at Noon my next post must be after 8PM, and if I post at 1PM my next post must be after 9PM? Or is the count reset at fixed times, 1 post between Midnight and 8Am, 1 post between 8AM and 4PM...?

edit: Brain, maybe AH is referring to a Civ found in CtP, you think?

Hmmmmm... ...It's a step in the right direction. But we're not there yet!

I'll voice my own opinion on this matter later in the weekend.

Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

Its better than 1 every day, but I guess I'll just have to go to Q9 or ACOL the rest of the time.

One new thread every 8 hours is no different to me than one thread every day.

I can't join the 'thank you Mark' crowd. That said I'm in the minority now, as all you folks just love not being able to start a thread but once in eight hours, or a least feel you've won w/ this new restriction. If you were wacked on the head twice in one day and the next day only once would you be thankful?

We don't need a restriction at all. That's not just myself speaking but the moderators in charge of maintaing order. The OT is orderly now, without this. Many of us have dedicated time to helping maintain order and have alot of time and effort involved helping the Mods to get it where it is now. So why are we locked out after one thread?

Edited to replace 'post' w/ 'start a thread'. The question however remains.....

                      What did we do wrong?

btw, did the "serious and legitimate posters" became a "thanking crowd" now?

Honestly, frankly, and with all gratitude to Markos and Dan for hosting this forum, I think this is the stupidest thing since the YYYH/Spink bannings.

Think about it - you get some great thread ideas all of a sudden, and you post them. But then, you are dry for the next week - you posted several in 10 minutes, all interesting threads. Ooh, can't do that, that would be "disruptive".

Additionally, what about cases where a current thread gives you a great idea for a new one, but you are already at your limit? Doesn't that greatly limit some of us?

Really, I think that far too many rules are being placed in the "Off-Topic" forum - the best solution, as many would agree, is to simply make a Silliness Forum, a la SidGames, and restrict the stupid stuff there.

I'm sorely disappointed Mark; pressure from the vocal majority got to you. Rather than reduce the topic limit by 1/3, I think you should have INCREASED it to 1 thread every 3 days. Bunch of whiners....

How can they have a superior civ??? They're not even on the game! Unless you edited the rules!!!!!!!
