I have no problem with the 150 thread limit but I wonder if we have a chicken and egg situation in its application.
What I mean is this.
A thread (conceivably fast moving) gets close to the limit. Now somebody has to do the following
(a) start a new thread; and
(b) set up the link
clearly, if there is a lot of traffic around then the new thread must be started first - else there is a problem of erroneous linking. So, the new thread must be started first.
Then the starter must return to the original thread and set the link up. This presumes
1) that the person knows HTML (well, I know, someone will show up - so it's a small issue)
2) the thread has not gone over 150 posts and, if it has, the poor poster will be banned for merely trying to be a public servant.
In the meantime, of course, all sorts of things have changed.
I wonder, then, is it possible that we could somehow autoclose threads. Obviously after 150 posts which makes great sense.
Then, the question that arises to me, is can we autoclose after words like, say "gun control" or something like that.
What do people think?
