all I can say: wow...I'm speechless. Wasn't the 150 limit announced on that news script thingie...blah, blah, blah...Ming, did you really expect that people wouldn't post to your thread even after you said it's not allowed (it's like fobridden fruit, it was probably the woman, called Empress that put all the men up to this...hihihi)...wow

      note to self:
would they ban another moderator? hihihi

heh, I have deleted the first message that was here to post this:

        T O P I C R E V I E W
        ghen's third DL
3 threads in one, I should be reinstated for this wonderous saving of OT space.

Cybershy: I've taken up temporary residence at ACOL if you wanted to continue any discussions.

Are there any philosophy BB's out there? 'tis the only reason I came to apolyton besides sillyness.

        and now: random thoughts

Markos: it's disappointing to see this happening

Most definitely sir, all started from a silly rule that would never have been changed if complaints went through the normal
        channels at the apolyton forum.

Ming's holier than thou thread was rediculous. I praise you for the 150 post limit, but please. People want to respond to
threads, not be re-directed to a less populated forum! It was a silly problem that gave serious repercussions. The (4th?)
US amendment says it best... No cruel and unusual punishments. ('cept me, I asked for a banning)

I think the degrigation of the OT started when Taal left, coincidence? I think not

        I really like eggs..

Oh yeah, last thought: If any of my other replies are a bit behind that's cause I'm lazy and it took a while to make this
        login.

. To Ming a few posts down:
I genuinely didn't like the thread's concept. That is why I continued to make logins while only 300 away from Emporer. (Emperor?) So it wasn't all MattHiggs. I think I speak for a few others as well, its just that I'm the most vocal of the lot. I mean please, Lancer, Cybershy, Nimrod (cough), Empress, MarkL, these people had honorable intentions by posting on that thread. I was stubborn, I know, but it was the only way I thought I could turn your attention to the problem at hand quickly. If my banning was neccessary for this to happen than so be it. The other 3 logins I made were for my own sick sense of humo(u)r, I hope you can forgive me.

Hey, next time just hack the thread so that it redirects you to the discussion thread!

EDIT: Just happened to bump upon this thread... Hilarious IMHO. Didn't feel the same when it actually happened.

                OK so I can post.

Ming was quite right to ban me. I was taking the piss. Thing is I read the thread then Matt's reply and I thought it was hillarious. I mean "Anyone who posts in this thread will be banned"? I have a problem with authority anyway but that's like sticking a big red button on the wall saying do not press this button or the great sign I once saw which said

quote:

Notice: Do not throw stones at this notice

At the end of the day if Ming had said, "You don't need to post in here 'cause I'll bump it from time to time" none of this would have happened. The threat of banning for something that seems, to me, to be so trivial was the thing that started it all. I'm sorry it got so out of hand.

Ps: Much respect for the speed with which you removed my ability to post! I was very impressed. I thought I'd get a few more posts than that in.

Right it's back to ACOL for me to talk to all the refugees we are feeding.

I dissagree with the bannings made on saterday. I have no serious problem with the 150 limit, but I believe that the 20+ bannings is contridictary to the sprit of apolyton. I understand that the mods/admins have to keep order, but some things are not nessesary. Apolyton should be a fun place, and what happened saterday wasn't the least bit fun. While it might even have been right to ban the first few, when it became a mass mainia, the thread should have been closed. Not doing so is asking for people to post. The problem is as much the mods/admins as it is the posters…

so, instead of the posters acting in a responsible way, the admins must make it impossible for them to act in a irresponsible one. excellent....

I'd say that the admins have a reasonably easy tool at their disposal to stop people posting in a thread which is locking it. Lock it then unlock it to post. That would have been the sensible option.

Out of interest what was the problem with people posting in that thread anyway?

All discussion was to be made in the thread in the apolyton forum(which was linked from ming's post).

At that time, some people decided to fight for their god-given right to post in the wrong forum...

You could have posted it, let idiots like me post in that thread if we'd wanted and then left it alone. Then instead of posting the Bump message he was going to be posting anyway Ming could have posted a

The point is you should either allow people to post: Thread open
                            Or not: Thread closed

Anything in the middle just seems silly.

How long does it take to go Unclose.... bump... close

Not long even with the slowness of Apolyton.

Yeah MikeH, in retrospect I see your point.
I was being optimistic that people would actually behave like human beings...

                                But...
MattHiggs told me on ICQ that he was bored and spent hours on ICQ setting up the
"revolution" His intent was to earn himself the "village idiot" title that he has been

They were the ones that were hurt... supporting a "cause" that was just a planned attack on the Apolyton Site. There intentions were good, they just got fooled by a bunch of people who had nothing better to do that attack this site.

Yes, I was indeed stubborn, and the people that posted were being stubborn too. I just
wish that they had really understood the "cause" they were supporting... just a simple
