ANYBODY THAT POSTS TO THIS THREAD wanting to discuss this issue (or just posting their normal spam) will get a vacation.

Never underestimate human stupidity... especially in large numbers.

Yeah, that was quasi-sarcasm. Figured I'm bring it up before someone else did.

I still don't like this though... now who is going to fuel the discussions of Off-Topic! It's way better then a newspaper there on it's good days.

It's just a big game. That's the problem. Banned for a week? Big deal. Who can't stay away from Apolyton for a week?! ok ok, maybe Mao JK! I guess if MarkG and Ming don't mind the banning and closing threads than it's not a big deal. Can't you (MarkG or Ming) move single posts to a new thread. I was wondering if you could move posts to the Apolyton form as they are posted in OT (if you really, really, really hate to see them in OT). Seems like this would be less work in the long run. Now, you have this game going on. Maybe longer bans would make some think twice before -playing- the ban game.

The whole thing really is pretty silly. Just locking the thread (I know Ming says this is a pain having to lock, unlock the thread) still seems like less work.

of course... apolyton history is being made. the 150 post thread will live forever. you'll see it in polls years from now - do you remember the 150 post thread?

...why do I get the feeling DarkosQ is now contemplating keeping an OTF...

Anyway, most of the interesting people are banned (except you MWHC ) so I guess the OTF will be going on a decline for a while anyway...

What is the big fuss about I read the thread early this morning and never thought about posting on it. There are only a few threads that this would affect and most of those are spam threads. In my short time I have only seen a couple of serious disscussion/debate threads go that far.

I also agree that the adims should be able to post threads that can not be replied to for the simple reason that how many poeple just replied to the thread just beacuse they were told not to. The longer a thread goes the less likely people are to read the first post.

Is it so hard to refrain from posting when you are told not to?

OT will continue as always... maybe just not so slow now (less posters).

Sheesh. There's one word to describe this whole thing: Stupid. First of all, I can sympathize with Markos wanting just one discussion thread instead of two. Perhaps it would be better to do the one thread in the OTF instead of Apolyton, but no matter. However, Ming's time-saving approach was DEFINTELY not a good idea. After the first three people, he should have locked the thread and gone to the tedious locking-unlocking procedure one or two times. Then this would be no big deal.

That being said, he didn't. And he had a right to do that, though I wouldn't think it to be the wisest choice. And you guys decided to be stupid anyway! There's civil disobedience and then there's stupid civil disobedience. You can complain all you want about this in Apolyton about the practice of not allowing discussion on these issues in the OTF. But this stupid act of rebellion is NOT going to convince the admins to change their policy, it'll only convince them to do the tedious lock-unlock procedure in the future, making more work for them and no gain for you. End result: Nothing. If MarkG and Co. does decide to change their policy, you can bet it won't be because of you. And if they don't change their minds, then you will have only created more work for Ming. Happy?

Therefore this is not a syllogism.

                              I'M BACK OFF VACATION!!

Yes, when you read this post, Ming has already re-enabled my login. He told me via e-Mail that the vacation should be ended soon.(11 to 12 hours from the time of the mail on, so should be over now)

Well, now it's over, and my first visit to Mingopulco is over. It was really impressive.

I consider to write down my first impressions of Mingopulco in a book. Thinking about the title...

An interesting night. "The night of long knives", perhaps?

Take your pick as to which side was at fault. I can't be bothered.
