  • Private Fourms? What is…

    On the search page, there is a note stating:
    <center><table width=80%><tr><td><font color=000080 face="Verdana" size=2><font size="1">quote:
    <img src="/images/blue1.gif" width=100% height=1>
    </font>Note: if you need to search private forums, click here instead.
    <img src="/images/blue1.gif" width=100% height=1></font></td></tr></table></center>

    What's a private fourm?

    In fact, that's a weird matter. Waiting for replies...and maybe some answers.

      A private forum is a forum where only specific ppl (those who were given access to them by the admins) can get into.

      It's used for different purposes, but the one that I've seen the most on different UBB boards is the so-called "moderator corner"

      Private forums don't exist on Apolyton (unless they managed to hide it in some way )

          <img src="/images/blue1.gif" width=100% height=1></font></td></tr></table></center>Wrong. Ming is not the person who does that kind of stuff.

          Mark and Dan are the guys who own this site, and they are the ones who are busy with changes to the site/forum script (if we're talking about the forums in specific, it's primarily Markos who's busy working on that particular part).

          Yes, Ming (and MLeonard for that matter) has admin status on the forums, but that doesn't mean he changes things to the forums. Both Ming and MLeonard are moderators and that's all they do. They have admin status because they need to be able to ban ppl, which they cannot if they only have moderator status. There are a few other advantages of the admin status as well.

          But, coming back to the subject, I don't think there is a private forum Private messages can also be easily transmitted through email and ICQ

            There are no private forums in operation on Apolyton. If there were, though, we wouldn't say so publicly because hense the word "private"...

                You do have the List forum which is semi-private (not everyone can post threads).

                  Private forums imply that they are hidden from both public view and participation, Hugo, and that is not the case. The "List" forums are simply restricted as to those who can post in them, but everyone can read their contents.

                    Narck:
                    OK, OK, I just thought let's go with the herd an make some Ming-Jokes. In fact I don't know anything about all these Administrator/Moderator stuff and made a joke of something I shouldn't make jokes of because I don't really know it. Does this apologize please you, Narck?
