  • External link's ad system is not working

I just noticed that there is supposed to be a new ad when you click in a link that send you out of Apoly, but the ad isn't displaying correctly in my computer!

    My System:

Windows XP with security patchs but no the whole Service Pack1

    IE 6.0.2600
    Attached Files
Trying to rehabilitateh and contribuing again to the civ-community

I had one that was blank too. The rest of the time I have had ads. I think this is a really good idea btw.

Good idea yeah...but 15 seconds is a bit long IMO. 8 would be better.

With 15 you get too many people just clicking by without actually looking at the ad.

is there a way to have it so it doesn't kill links?

using mozilla, if you try to click on a link that has a google search already in the link, this ad clears it.

          see here:

it's in my post near the bottom.

I got this screen today without images(I've used externals links only once since this came), and I waited for ages without the screen disappearing... I had to click the skip link to go beyond it.

hmm an issue with the code of the specific banner rather than the system

the system is external(non-apolyton) so i dont control the wait time

now that's an issue to consider...

i've seen it in some apolyton links(attachments, directory links) and have put work-arounds for the error, but it seems a much better aproach is required...

What you SHOULD do is have this redirect page that shows...10 ads for each external link, but only lasts 5 seconds

Anyway,I use Google toolbar so I never saw the popups

                            that's why you complain

if this works and the ads actually pay out good, we'll do this everywhere

Nope, not fixed. Attempting to d/l the Sounds for Bitterfrost [Edit: link to thread] yields the "You have tried to link to an image on our site" warning and no zip file.
