Well, let me try to make the case...
There has been a constant number of tech treads cropping up. Yes, the go away, but new ones take their place.
Alva said that the reason that there is no tech forum is the number of other related sites. With Apolyton you know the advice you're getting is good (usually ) and you won't just be screamed at to RTFM!!11!. Also, many of the other forums are topic-specific and the members don't enjoy answering questions that seem very simple (to them) or very common.
I honestly don't see the use for such a forum. This place is mainly for games right?

Mainly indeed, and there is nothing wrong with branching out

The problem with branching out is the one we've been running into, size. A site that branches out more gathers more activity. This is good, up to a point. Any further branching is bad.

Ah, what do you guys mean by "tech thread," anyway? If you're referring to those polls asking you to rate your computer's processor/CD-ROM/soundcard/porn cache, I say the less of those the better, and those are the only ones I can see in the first few pages of the OT.
Anyway, the point of a new forum would ostensibly be to keep posts on the new topic from detracting from the general direction of the board, and the OT doesn't have a general direction. By definition it's Apolyton's inanity midden.

Yup.
