You don't have to read your own cr*p
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus

Do other people do what? Read your cr*p? Or put themselves on ignore?

You can't put yourself on ignore. I've tried.

I must have tried and failed on CGN in that case.

It might be impossible on CGN - I've never tried there - but it works here. It could have something to do with the way the forum software was set up.

Actual you are already be forced to be logged in, if you want to use all the needed features of this forum. For instance if I want to see an attached image here I have to click on it and are forced to log in readless of the fact if I am logged in or not. This is also true if I want to see someones profile, or want to use the search option or want to download an attached file, that conatins some necassary stuff for some files in the Apolyton directory, so you have to register if you just want to download an attachment. Regardless of the fact wheather you want to post wheather you don't want to post.

I love how all the "solutions" require TONs of work...

My solution only requires a few (long) SQL commands

there we have it fromt he man himself.

but since he allowed us to continue discussion (unless i'm misinterperting this thread being open), I would like to say that people who haven't posted even once (and I mean people who have 0 posts, and not a 0 post count) and registered before 2002, and haven't logged in since, have probably moved on with their life, or created a new user.

True, but most "guests" probably aren't using these features. I surfed Poly for at least six months before registering.

I wonder how many people registered just to download one or two files? Probably a lot, so I wonder if forcing people to register is the best idea...

perhaps a culling of the ranks might be necessary.

is it possible to do a two-stager pogrom?

first, check to see who hasn't posted in, say, a year or so.
then, check to see if they have less than, say, fifty posts.

if they fulfill both qualifications, delete the accounts?

If the problem is just registering your name that has already been taken by someone else who hasn't posted, can't you just contact MarkG, Ming, rah, or DanQ and ask to take the name from the other person?

I know of one instance where this has happened...but I can't recall the person.
