  • 1-1-1970???????

I'm sure everyone knows but me...
Why does some people's join date say 1-1-1970??
It's not like that's when they joined?
And ever after, sun shone upon the land of Sunshinia...

For anyone who registered between 27 July 1998 (site inception) and 15 February 1999 the true registration dates were not recorded. 1-1-1970 is the default date used instead.

I may be a bit of with the above dates as I'm taking it from memory.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

We need those Canned Text things like we have at CGN to cope with questions like this. There's not much need to use it at CGN because the community is so small, but here it would be very helpful.

Actually an adequate FAQ update would be more helpful, IMHO.

Nah if I start another it might look like I'm peddling spam.

Sorry, you have to wait a little bit, Alva. CGN is unavailable right now, so I take the screenshot later.

But basically you can define 5 pre-written messages in advance in User CP and then include them in your posts with the BB code [x] (x = number of message), e.g. [2]. I haven't seen the feature as that useful as you would then have to remember what those messages are. Maybe you could do like FP suggested and write a few like the DL dance and such, but yet I find it better to write each message manually.

It had something to do with updating to new forum software, I think.

True, but there are always plenty of people who never read them.

I think he was talking about the spamming but I'm not sure.
