They are the ones that work with the advertising partners... and in the past, the owners have shown their willingness to not work with partners that cause problems. I agree that users should not click yes on popups. But sites should also not have dangerous things popping up. Some people may not know the difference. For instance to use the IRC here, you DO have to click yes on a popup.

1. I've seen the Gator popup a couple times, but I can't remember if it was poly that caused it.

2. If I just close the window asking me to accept Gator (not clicking yes OR no) what happens? Any chance it will install? Is it better to click no or just close the window?

I would say that both are as good, so clicking No or closing the window should be as safe as the other option is.
