  • The Avestite Manifesto

    Preamble:

We, the Avestite faction of the Union of Human Hive Republics, do hereby declare our support for the principles of the renowned European political philosopher, Dr. Ryan Avest. Dr. Avest was one of the greatest minds of the mid-21st century, and if not for his untimely death at the hands of survivalist terrorists, would likely have led us to Chiron himself.

    Principles of the Avestite Faction:

    1) Religion is the opiate of the people, an anachronism from Earth whose sole purpose was to oppress the people. It is to be vigorously suppressed.

    2) The interests of the group must take precedence over all else, including the interests and the lives of the individuals who comprise it.

    3) The supreme interest of the group is it's material and spiritual well-being. In order to achieve this, we advocate the focussing of industry on generating wealth - decent and equitable living conditions for all - and on creating the capacity for expansion. However, this should not be taken too far; excessively luxurious conditions are wasteful and spiritually degrading. Once liveable conditions are available to all people, any excess resources should go into economic expansion or factional defence.

    4) The function of the planetary environment is to provide sustenance to human beings. Pollution should be contained sufficiently to ensure the continued survival of the environment and thus humanity, but beyond that, we have no ecological obligations.

    5) If other survivors of the Unity mission should be encountered on Chiron, we must not hesitate to extend the benefits of Hiverian life and Avestite ideology to them, by whatever means are available.

Factionalism only serves the cause of the bourgeois; we must be united as communists and leave behind the old squabbles of Earth leftists.

There is only one Party, one set of principles, and one means to achieve them.

      OOC:
I of course don't mind the existence of several groups as that will add to RPing, but wouldn't it be better to call your movement something else than a faction? After all, the Hive itself is a faction.

OOC: No, no, you've got that all wrong. The Hive is not a faction; it represents the general human population. The others are splinter factions from us.

For some reason this thread did not appear on the forum's thread list.

Edit: and now the Writer's Workshop has disappeared! It seems that there is always a thread missing between the last one on the first page and the first one on the second page.

So does anybody else wish to join? (or, for that matter, comment on any of this faction's principles?)

This is a known bug. In forums with topped threads, there is a black hole between the first page and second page, whose size equals to the number of the topped threads.

I'm ashamed for all of your comrades who holds important government positions. And you had to start your own parities/factions/groups/whatevers. Isn't it glorious enough to work for the Party already?

Thank you Comrade HongHu for your undying support for the Party. The rest of you should follow her selfless example and commit yourselves to the one and one Party.

We are committed to the party. We are simply a grouping of people who have similar visions for the direction and purpose of the party.

As I have expressed to a number of my comrades in private correspondence, any kind of unchangeable dogma is the greatest possible threat to a stable society. If, for instance, the Party degenerated to such a degree that it's interests conflicted with those of Hiverian society as a whole, or if this faction degenerated to the same point, they cease to have any claim over their members and should bd destroyed.
