  • Multiplaying for Beginners

Hey ho, since I've just started my first multiplayer game, I think I need some info about general... playingness of the game.

For example, how is diplomacy between humans generally done? Do you decide what you're doing through e-mail/ PM then make and accept the offers using the negotiations thingummy, or just use thta alone with offer and counter-offer going abck and forth year after year?

And can you only look up a game once, before you send your turn, or can you open it up any time and look at things, decide tactics, etc.? I tried doing that but it warned me I was cheating or something, so I stopped

And anything else I should know (that isn't in the main tourney thread) would be appreciated.

Diplomacy is done both my mail and the in-game diplomatic box, depending on how long the message is you want to say.

Of course you can't load the same turn twice. Then, in an interhuman war, you could keep reloading the game until the battles go into your favour. You can of course still save normally and resume playing that turn another time. It's all fine as long as you don't load the same file twice.

...what if you're not going to be sending the file on to anyone? No, wait, you could try more permutations and explore more land that way, so that can't be allowed.

Another question in a similar matter:
Is it ever possible to save and restore a LAN game? What should we do if we want to finish the game the next day?
We cannot reconnect - the program lets us continue as a hot-seat game, but it's not the same.

I'm having the same problem in trying to load a LAN game.

            Alright, I got it.

You start the LAN game as if you wanted to start a new game and let the others connect. In the options to the left, you change "Type of game" into "Load game".

Then you can load your game, and that's all! Pretty dumb huh? It's just easy to overlook.

            Have fun
