Okay, I was looking at the alpha.txt file in the main SMAC(X) directory and under the rules section it says
1, ; If non-zero, humans can always contact each other in net games
1, ; If non-zero, humans can always contact each other in hotseat/email games
So I'm thinking, if the CMN(creator of the game) had both of these set to 0, would that mean that no one could contact each other at the start of a PBEM game?
The problem of course, is that not everyone would have the same file, and it might affect current pbem games.
It would be nice if it went by who started the game, then we wouldn't have to worry about people contacting each other prematurely.
What do you guys think?
p.s. it also says this in the alphax.txt, meaning you'd have to do it for smax separately.
