    MY 2223 to Qantaga

re: Quack. Thanks for the clarification, SITS. We do have bingo over here. Since I do not play bingo, that's why I am unfamiliar with the term. Yes, it is silly, but most fun things are.

There seems to be a lack of co-operation for my non-co-operation idea....

          MY 2224 to Qantaga

SITS: I didn't mean to give the impression that I was ignoring your suggestion. If I have, I apologize. I just didn't have a response ready when I last posted, and I haven't been able to respond until now.

I, personally, am not in favor of banning co-op victory. The only reason I have for this is the fact that Qantaga and I share a rectangular shaped mid-sized continent with about 8 - 10 squares of distance between our HQ's.

We have been in contact from about 2105 or so, and since that time we have come to the conclusion that, for either of us to have any chance at winning this game, we would have to align and coordinate our goals and plans. To not do so would guarantee that neither of us would be able to achieve victory. It would result in MAD - Mutually Assured Destruction.

Hello my ToC and 1812 friends,

I am sorry to be such a ghost on these forums lately. Fall is a very busy time for me. I spend a lot of time on the road at this time of year. Now, with our increased travel security (for which I am grateful), there are times where I am having to drive great distances. Even when I do fly, it takes 3-4 times longer to get to my destination than in the past. By the time I get my turns, play them and send them out, there is not much time to access Apolyton, especially since the site loads very slowly from a laptop using a hotel phone line.

As to SITS' proposal on banning a cooperative victory, I am in agreement with Deimos (surprise, surprise). As he said, the game placed our HQs within 8 squares of each other when the game started. (I was under the impression that Solver had secured someone to setup and playtest the game before we started, but that obviously was not the case). Deimos and I met in the first 5 years of the game and had to decide upon either conflict (and early elimination of one of our factions) or to form an alliance. Since Co-op victory was on the table in the original game setup, it seems rather late in the game to take it away.

Qataga - No problem with you taking the extra time.

I was suggesting a ban on a co-operative victory not a ban co-operation! I accept your reasons for your actions as being valid (it doesn't matter if they weren't!) But for *me* it would add to the game play if, particularly you two, knew that you would have to slug it against each other at some point. The fact that you would have to look over your shoulder would be interesting! But Qantaga makes a very good point, the rules at the beginning allowed a Co-op victory and I'm willing to abide by that. I just think it would be more interesting if we changed it.

ColDark: Why did you send the 2nd email? If you're just being proactive about insuring that I got my turn, thanks for being so thoughtful!
