I forgot to mention, during my tenure I had that AAA SAM rover in our SW bases and lo and behold, it shot down one of Miriam's planes. I boated it over to Spartan-land to help with air-cover. That's one tough unit!

I think it's my turn, since we're skipping JohnD
Report to Assembly: 2270-2280
Nothing much. Started to build Hybrid Forests, Hive attacked with approx 2000 needlejets, and destroyed a few crawlers. But I replused with the 10 SAM coppers we had around. researched Homo Superior and Centauri Psi, and Got Silksteel through cashing a AA. Caputred a couple of Santi bases. Nothing much...
....
.....
Warning: These are real conversations... and they may be disturbing.
Except when Sunspots ended. I decided to contact Santi.
Santi: Give me money and pledge truce.
Lal: No
santi: Pledge Truce
Lal: No
Santi: I'm a horrible and worthless person. I know you're not worthy of me, but I surrender completely to you.
Lal: Ok, but you must sign a pact. And while you're at it, could you declare Vendetta on the Hive?
Santi: OK.
Also, deciding that the University was a good place to contact, because their insignificance, and their convient Hive airbase.
Lal: Hi.
Zak: Hello. I'm a hopeless fool and should of never declared war on you. I'm so sorry, that I'm willing to surrender, and give you all my techs (0) and all my energy (100)
Lal: OK. While you're at it, declare Vendetta on the Hive?
Zak: OK.
(That was the easiest war I have ever fought. Ever.)
Morgan broke pact, though, but we still have Treaty.

In my happiness, I forgot to mention a couple things...
Global warming is in effect. This is largely due to me forgetting that vetos can be overridden if everyone votes for it. Sorry. A vote of launching the shade should cancel it though.
EDIT:
I just looked over situation, and it might be benificial. It does endanger 4 bases, but no boreholes. And it endagers a bunch of hive bases too. (The 4 are equity, planning authority? (the one to the SW), and two sparta. Also the Hive.) Next players discretion.Last edited by Arima; September 3, 2001, 02:07.

Sorry I'm so late getting back to this. I have been unable to reach the last 2 pages in our game thread since late yesterday evening. Kept getting site server errors. I could reach the main forum pages and the first page of our thread - though it did take a long time to load them compared to other websites. Very strange.
I downloaded the game file and will play it. I have Smack's email address if I have trouble posting.
Add my congrats to your list, Arima! Two less problems to worry about! So now Team Lal turns its remorseless gaze towards the Believers and prepares to pass judgement on the treacherous Sister Miriam...

Report to the General Assembly MY2280-89
Switched to Pressure Dome production in our endangered coastal bases.
Concentrated on building up the Spartan island [formers/crawlers/boreholes/infrastructure]. Tried to do the same with our own island, but of necessity we had to make concessions to military spending. I'm mostly a counterpuncher, so I'll leave the full blown invasions to the aggressors.
We should toss up a few more orbital power transmitters to compensate for our crawler losses.
Found a unit labelled a "Clean Shard SAM 'Copter", that looked like a drop infantry squad of some type, so I tested it out by dropping it onto Yang's mainland just north of Climactic Research (shouldn't that be Climatic Research?) Yang had left that base abandoned for some reason. Thought I would throw a little scare into Yang and test his responses to an eventual invasion. The unit did make an airborne insertion, so somehow it's been mislabelled. Couldn't be bothered to try to go into DW and fix it.
2282 - We capture Climactic Research. Took out a sizeable chunk of Yang's airforce in the process.
2283 - We breed our first mindworms. I'll try to toss a few of these on alert in key coastal squares in order to discourage amphibious invasions of our turf.
2284 - Morgan Biochemical (Morgan) and Social Engineering Den (Hive) both lost to tidal waves.
2285 - We learn Centauri Psi. Begin researching The Will to Power
2286 - Morgan declares vendetta on us (told ya) and agrees to combine forces with the Hive.
2287 - Gains attack Spartans near Gaias Landing, Yang convenes PC to vote for Planetary Governor (Lal:616/Yang:297) Our delegation members laughed openly at the Hive delegation as we left the PC chambers. We might be close to getting ourselves elected Supreme Leader if someone wants to count the votes.
2289 - Yang finally liberated Climactic Research. We could probably have held it if we put some serious effort into it.
Went into the DW and did a little spring cleaning. If everyone else could obsolete or upgrade their older designs that would be cool.
No diplomatic initiatives taken. We should probably do something to placate our troubled Pact Sisters. I didn't want to give Gaia's Landing back to Dierdre becasue I thought that was asking for trouble with Santiago, but Dierdre flew a bunch of NJs up there anyway (to that specific base) and then attacked Santiago.

I'll get to this tonight. [Edit: It's tomorrow, and I've only got the first three turns done...if any want to take these, I'm getting a little busy]
I've been busy setting up the website for Aldebaran (not to mention finishing off some programming), and it's done!
You're invited to play the first ever MP game of Aldebaran, now that it's gone public. I'll be setting it up here on the MP threads.
Aldebaran Download Site
So, we're getting cocky are we? I can't wait! The Apolyton Server was really bad for about 18 hours, but I think they've corrected whatever it was.

johndmuller (and all), I am on the road this week. I will not be able to play 2290 tonight. So, johnd, go ahead and grab 2290 if you want. If you would rather me take this turn (in reference to your "less chaotic" comment), then I will play it Thursday night and you can have 2305. Your choice, my friend.

Should be finished by early evening (unless its gotten really really really complicated).
The Chairman is looking big, territorywise, I don't know whether formidible or not, but he's got a PB to wave at us and is still #1 in the Military thing. Looks interesting, but Yang is sometimes hard to root out, so we will need a really really really big & tough army.

johndmuller, take your time and enjoy the turn. I have a flight home tomorrow night, so I won't be able to play until Sat. morning anyway. I would like to take the turn after you, then Arima can take it from me. We can then go back to our original turn order if that's okay with everyone. Thanks.
