  • MY 2192 to Qantaga

....We interupt your current program for this Special Announcement.

Good evening. This is Paula Stone, reporting live from the Governor's Office in Morgan Industries. Governor Deimos has convened a press conference for a major announcement. And here's the Governor approaching the podium now....

    Citizens of Planet,

It is with the deepest regret that I address you this evening. I would like to announce that hostilities have formally broken out between the Nautilus Pirates and the Morgan-Cybernetic Alliance.

Before this evening, several skirmishes have taken place between our military forces. These skirmishes are the result of Captain Svensgaard's breaking off diplomatic relations with first Morgan Industries and finally the Cybernetic Consciousness. The reasons were stated as "philosophic" differences, but the underlying reason was pure, naked ambition.

The Nautilus Navy has recently conducted several ruthless assaults on helpless Sea Former crews. These unprovokede attacks were wholely conducted in Morgan territorial waters.

The final straw was when Svensgaard landed several Impact Regiments in Consciousness territory and they began to move inland toward the inner cities of Prime Function Qantaga's territory. The valiant Cybernetic Air Force repulsed these vile invaders with little difficulty.

Now, the Morgan Air Calvery has avenged the deaths of it's civilians by assaulting and destroying the military forces in several Nautilus bases. As I am speaking to you, Cybernetic Marines are moving in and securing these bases for the Consiousness.

These assaults will continue until either Captain Svensgaard capitulates in his stance or is captured and brought to justice.

    Thank you and good evening.

    • As of this evening, many good and true citizens of Planet have been liberated from the vile and evil clutches of the madman Pirate King.

Sven still spews forth hatred and threats with every attempt at civilized communication.

I was willing to let Sven rule his faction in his own manner, but first he set up sea bases right outside my cities and then he founded a base on land near my capital. But the last straw came, as Governor Deimos pointed out in his address, when Sven landed Probe Teams and Impact units right next to my cities and threatened me while we were supposed to be in a Treaty.

There is still hope that his advisors may talk some sense into Sven and we can allow him to continue to rule his own faction. But, for now, the Cybernetic Consciousness and Morgan Industries have no choice but to protect their people from this threat.

Brothers, brothers... might I suggest that words not swords be used to bring this matter to a halt. Surely we can solve our differences in an enlightened manner. I will speak to our pirate brother, and see if I can make him see sense.

            Brother ColDark,

It's all well and good to urge diplomacy, but that form of discourse is not possible when your missives are returned unread and your ambassadors are turned away from closed gates.

Again, I state that, due to the grevious nature of the Captains' acitons and sternness of his stance, I will accecpt only surrender or capture. I have no desire to press this matter any farther than I have to, but I will continue until he recants his positon.

Gentlemen, unfortunately, I will not be able to play any turns tomorrow (Thursday) night. I will be looking forward to the 1812/ToC turns and will play them when I get home Friday night. Sorry for the delay.
