Year 2151 to Hobbes.
_______
Personal Log, Year 2151
Acting Provost Tenchusatsu
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!
The Provost left me in charge with specific instructions, and I'm failing in all of them! He told me to get the Virtual World, and I failed in that endeavor. He also told me to stay out of any wars, and I'm failing in that as well! Seems like the Progenitors aren't willing to leave our poor citizens alone, and now we must arm our researchers with weapons just to defend ourselves.
It's one thing to dream up theories and fund research projects to create cool new weapon technologies. It's yet another thing to actually use them in real combat. How can you motivate a bunch of atheistic scientists to give up their lives in the defense of University?

Good news, men! The Acting Provost has somehow been able to raise the funds from what he calls "increased donations from alumni." We are now able to authorize Project KDAALTDOCSEM, which stands for "Kill Dem All And Let Their Deity Of Choice Sort 'Em Out!"

Hmmmm, someone else must be having all the fun. Not a MW in sight & nothing from the aliens in about 6 turns. Onwards.

2153 on to the Free Drones.
We are grieved to hear that the Aliens are pressing such a ruthless attack on the University. Glad to hear your alumni could be roused from their martinis long enough to provide a little cold, hard cash for the defense of your people.

2154 sent to NorthSwordsman.
Our security forces have received a very disturbing communique. It seems that Guardian H'minee had previously seized a University base and renamed it M'dar Holding. At the very end of the turn, Hive information sources were appalled and sickened as they learned that M'dar Holding had been obliterated by direct order of H'minee. 10,000 University citizens were put to their death. The University has our sympathies.

Turn to Shadowlord (No, it's not Tench- but thank you, Tench, for your playing time! :-) ).
------------------------------
Excerpt from Free Drone Battle Report:
It was satisfying to see an alien garrison troop immolate itself upon our formidable defenses. They made a nice popping noise when they died. Reminds me of popcorn. :-). The Usurper Infantry unit was immediately dealt with by a probe team. Nice to know they can be subverted. Now let's see if a little reverse engineering can give us that unusual armor for our troops. We only lost 2 men- that garrison unit only had hand weapons of an unusual make.

Mr. Cliff "Shadowlords" is back to play his turns again. I must say that it's been a pleasure subbing for him while he was gone. Even in this short period of time, I sure learned a lot from this game, just like I do from any MP SMAC(x) game. Take care, and good luck to you all!
_______
Public Announcement from the Provost's Office
Shadowlords is back from his sabbatical and will soon resume his normal duties as Provost. Tenchusatsu will step down as Acting Provost and will also resume his old post of cleaning the bathrooms of fraternity houses. However, because of Tenchusatsu's excellence in carrying out the duties of Provost during Shadowlords' absence, he is currently being considered for a promotion to Head of Sanitational Engineering.

Transcript of Private Conversation between Chief of Security and one of his advisors
Advisor: We just heard that the base being occupied by the Caretakers was recently burned down to the ground. 10,000 University citizens were slaughtered in the process.
Chief: Hmmm ... Oh well, that makes our job easy.
Advisor: Sir ... uh, if I may speak freely, sir, don't you feel any remorse for the lives lost?
Chief: Not really. Say the base wasn't razed. Our efforts to retake the base would have destroyed it in the process anyway. So if the base is going to be ashes anyway, it's better that the Caretakers do the dirty deed, rather than us.
