We have Great Prayer days.
Some combination of a bunch old Christian days into a period of days of great prayer. A hundred years ago or so someone decided it was easier to take the around 6 or so days of prayer for this and that and put them all toghether - cut them in half and get it over with.
As weather was good there were a lot more people drinking beer in parks and on beaches though than congregating in the churches.
