  • Youngbloods Gathering, part I

Just started this game, with players being:
    SamIAm, Twister, Radagast, Hutak, SITS.
Turn 2101 sent to SITS. The old thread is here: http://apolyton.net/forums/Forum27/HTML/000454.html

Email address for Hutak is *********** , and you know addresses for the others. Something messed with the player, order, though . This is the first and the last time it goes so.
Hutak, please forgive me, and tell what is the highest AI level you've ever beaten .
And all, say who would want to join one more game, that I'm creating, but it will also have two experienced players: Mark13 and me.
Enjoy the game, and contact me with questions, if anything is unclear, and I think it will be - first game, all in all. It was also unclear to me .

Solver: please include me in new game you are forming.

    Answers to quiz:

One free tech advance to whomever identifies the movie from which the below quote is taken. One free secret project if the name of the actor delivering the line is given. One free planet buster before turn 100 if you can correctly identify the type of parrot the actor ownsj, as well as its ontological status.

"Now, let's not worry about who killed who....this is supposed to be a happy occasion."

1.Monty Python and the Holy Grail
    2. Michael Palin
    3. A Norwegian Blue (beautiful plumage!); which is either "dead" or "stunned" or "pining for the fjords," depending upon whom you ask.

Um, unless people aren't posting, its been 24 hours since the turn got sent last time.

While we're on the subject, what are the rules (or are there any?) on timeliness?

I must admit I misread Solver's post in the original newbie game thread. When I said why would Hutak have a say in the game I thought Solver had meant he was starting a NEW game seperate from the one Hutak was starting which is what I was signing up for.

My mistake. I wasn't trying to marginise Hutak at all which I think I did with my post. Sorry.

I guess I'm wondering (only wondering as Hutak has 48 hours to make a move) if Hutak is still with us or has he taken offence at the game being started by someone else? I hope he is still here and ok.

Very sorry to say this, but Hutak looks pretty hostile to me. He has taken some offence from me starting the game, refused to reply to postings/emails, and now doesn't play. Also refused to give me his password .

                        1. Solver: has he stated all of these things to you (e.g. has he SAID he refused to give you his password, or has he just not done it? Has he ACTIVELY refused these things, or just not responded?) He's also in the TW2002 game, and I don't recall seeing him post recently on any of the BBS. He could be sulking here and keeping a low profile there, or he could be busy or occupied with real-life duties such that he cannot post. Unless we KNOW for SURE he is angry or upset, we should not assume this.

                        2. While Solver may have taken the "hit" earlier re: the email exchange with Hutak, please keep in mind that I was all for getting the game going ASAP, and other players were of the same mind. Hutak's last post was before we all started getting VERY impatient, so two things could be the case:

                        a. Hutak was sulking. In this case he is a wee bit of a noodge for not getting the game going. It shouldn't take over 100 posts to start a game. Also, Solver IS a ladder administrator, not just "some guy" who decided to wrest control from our hands (even if he is a bit "eager." )

                        b. Hutak has valid reasons for being away. Since we had no contact with him when we decided to start the game, we shouldn't assume he consented to it--perhaps he was already called away by duties. So maybe he isn't being nasty, maybe he is just not there. His last post seemed to indicate that he was eager to get going.

All in all, I think we should assume (b) until we have clear evidence to the contrary. Innocent until proven guilty. (those who prefer "police state" setting in SE may opt for a less aquittal-prone system, but I still think we should stay nice until we have clear reason to be nasty)

So, we might as well just wait until we hear from Hutak. In the meantime, get some more games going.

                        -rad

Hear, Hear Rad. I'm all for waiting for contact from Hutak before we jump to conclusions. But start a new game by all means.

Solver, did Hutak give you permission to post his email address?

Permission for posting his email? He hasn't spoken a single word to me. He only said that my email pissed him off, nothing else.
OK, I'm also open for arrangin another game now, if that is what you want, besides MindWorms in Mist, so it's MW in M, and one more.
Hutak did never say something, and I hope he really has valid reasons.
And anyway, I had to post his email, so that you could send the turns to him. Contact him someone.

Solver - I'm not sure that was proper thing to do. Hutak kept his email hidden for his own reasons - it is up to him to give his permission for it to be revealed. As to playing the game he might have wanted to use a different email address that he had registered with and not have his main one in the public domain.

A new game would be good by me.

I have written to Hutak, sending my apologise maybe it would help if you could do the same Solver.
