I believe I ****ed up on my very first move in the tournament...
Last week I read the threads about the Stockpile Energy bug (which was news to me), and I thought the final decision was to assume everyone knew about it and would exploit it.
So... I put a stockpile energy in the queue behind my initial base's scout patrol.
...and now I've just read the official rules, and see that I've broken one already. D'oh!

I humbly ask the Gods for forgiveness
...this was a tournament newbie error -- it won't happen again.

Cephalon: I don't think you'll get a huge advantage by using SE in the 1st turn . So on my part I'll just forget it.

2 Colony Pods is correct for the random and Planet maps; the start is as normal. On the Tournament map, you start with extra units.
