    Sorry,
I didn't respond earlier but I don't have SMACX , so you will have to find another player.

OK, Nanuk do not have SMACX.
Is there anyone else who doesn't have it?
If not then three solutions are available.
      1. Restart the game with SMAC
      2. Find a substitute for Nanuk
      3. Just play the rest
I prefer the first solution as I would like Nanuk to play with us.
      What's your opinion guys?

Even though I would much rather play smacx, I would like to have Nanuk in the game also. I believe in the original thread Deimos wanted the Spartans if it was regular smac. In this case if everyone agrees on regular smac I will take the Gaians so we can get the game going.

I'll play either, though AX is the only one I play when I get a choice.
          But AC is fine.
          Lets get started.

Even though I prefer SMACX, it would be unfair to exclude Nanuk. I'll take the Spartans.

            Ready for Planetfall!

p.s. Nanuk - any chance that you could get your hands on SMACX?

                Hi All,
Thanks for deciding to switch the game to SMAC. Unfortunately I would not be able to get my hands on SMAX that easily otherwise I would.

                Nanuk

OK, I will start a new thread for SMAC turn posting.
I will name it "Keygen's Classic Turns".
Do not post in this thread anymore regarding SMAC.

But as the rest would like to play some SMACX I propose to start another PBEM using this time SMACX.
So the players will be me, Deimos, Stuntman19 and Black Sunrise. Stuntman if you know any other player who might like to play SMACX, email him so to gather 5 human players again. We will take the same factions if there is no objection about it and the computer will play the Aliens. If you agree about starting a new SMACX then post here in this thread

                    I'm in.
I spend most of my days chained to my computer (I own my own internet-retail business), so firing off another turn is no problem at all.

OK I will wait for one more day in case we find another player for SMACX so to be 5 human players and 2 AI players. If we won't find the fifth then I will start the game with four human players, tomorrow. Stuntman or anyone else please try to find a player with SMACX installed.

One more thing. I have Windows 2000 and SMACX 2.0 installed and I can't start a Classic game. Only Alien Crossfire. And this is happening only with the patch 2.0 installed. If I have SMACX (without the patch 2.0) installed then everythink plays fine. Does anybody knows somethink about it?

                            Keygen,

Can you be more specific about the problem? Does the game not launch from the choice screen? or crash? other?

                              Keygen,

I am also running W2k. I just tried SMAC, and it works fine. Up until now, all I have ever played has been SMACX. AFAIK, the only update I applied is the SMACX 2.0. I believe the SMAC 4.0 update is included in that, because I don't recall applying it seperately.

Have you gone to the Windows update site? They have a compatibility patch, and SMAC is listed as one of the games that the patch addresses. It is under the recommended updates section.

Try this out, and if you are still having problems, I would be glad to help you work it out.

Also, when I launched the game, I created an icon on my desktop that points to terran.exe and used that. I didn't use the launcher.
