Lately I've been receiving too, from different senders, attachments with 4 char extensions, ranging from .zipe (yipe!) to .zipÄ.
All you have to do is save the attachment (instead of directly opening it and extracting), rename the file on your HDU, and then open it normally.

True, if you can even download it. A few days ago, Yahoo was having problems and attaching a little square box symbol at the end of the file name, so that it ended in .zip"box". I could not even download the file and was thus, not able to rename it.
