  • ACDG: An Excelent Multiplayer Oportunity

Just to give everyone here a heads up that the next ACDG is going to be starting soon perhaps less then a month.

This game will involve 4 teams of Humans competing against each other with no Coperative Victory (thus enshuring a big final war). 3 AI will also be included and they will likly be beffed up a bit by the CMN (currently Buster). The human faction will be Gaians, Morgans, Spartans and Angels so we have a faction for every kind of play style you might like. Turn limits are 48 hours so we will go at about at turn a week pace. Each team has around 12 members so far and all are looking for more.

Each team will have a private forum on Apolyton (and infact most teams have already created temporary offsite Private Forums to begin pre-planning right now). Everyone is welcome to partispate, you can delve deeply into your factions strategy and run the show, simply observe and learn, engage in inter-faction diplomacy or RolePlay by writing Propaganda for your faction. Their is an MIRC channel #ACDG which is also for general discussion and recruitment (not guaranteeing someone will be their all the time)

Partispating is Democracy games can be the ultimate learning experience as members bounce ideas off each other and take a long and detailed look at the games situations and gain insights that would normaly be missed in faster single player or even normal PBEM games.

Even if your not shure yet what faction you might want to join you can still drop by the forum and Register as an ACDG lurker to show your support for the game.

Democracy is one mentality's ability to opress another mentality, based on how well it appeals to the sheep.

Personalities should be on equal footing - not individual opinions.
Let those who create the ideas create them, and those who judge the ideas judge them.
Forget all those other people who honestly don't care about their opinion.

Better this way then with fysical violence. Their will always be Leader/mass relation in our race, so I prefer they have to succumb to a situation were they initially have to appeal to the 'sheep'.

The judging of ideas is an opinion issue, it seems.
And do you now people who don't care about their own opinions? Perhaps about others opinions, but their own?

The problem, Geo, is that the system is suboptimal.
You can state a few systems that are worse, but Democracy screws people over because people are inconsiderate.
This is a problem to be solved.

People aren't too fussed about their opinion, Geo. I know people that seldom or never contemplate their beliefs.

Inconsiderate is what all people are at least some of the time, I consider it a self-protective measure to keep ones sanity.

And it's proven that opinions and beliefs of humans can be relatively easy changed with chemicals. Not a desirable situation, thus a 'suboptimal', but democratic, system continues to be the best protection against such a blatant misuse of another ones 'self'.

It keeps sheep and wolfs (as I think you see a given group of people) from dominating the other.

Geo, explain to me how we're going to chemically alter the other posters on these fora?
Physical violence is impossible over the internet.

The problem is how to resolve conflict of interest when one thing or another must be done, but not both.
Democracy is a knee-jerk solution, but not the best one, as it presumes people know what they're on about.
The Shadow Management of The Hive was a much better system - judgement was made away from the drones.

Folk aren't always easy to talk to - there's communications breakdown when two people don't respect/value/consider what the other party has to say.
The simplest solution is to exclude anyone who is not willing to resolve interpersonal differences.
Failing that, and presuming interpersonal differences arise, then some method would be in place to resolve them.

Democracy presumes the majority is right, and has the obvious faulter that an idea that annoys 49% of the people to 2% of their capacity defeats an idea that annoys 51% of the people to 98% of their capacity.
It emphasises the ignorance of one man to another man's needs.
In short, it doesn't bloody work.

                            Good idea:
You need to identify the strengths of your workforce and use them appropriately.
Not all people lead, and not all people follow - the key is to assign the leaders tasks they like, and make them content and useful, while doing the same to the followers.

                            You need several things:
                            Emotional Intelligence
                            Delegational Intelligence
                            Strategic Intelligence
                            Diplomatic Intelligence

The first enables you to assign teammates where they are happy
The second enables you to assign them where they are useful.
The third allows you to run an intra-faction process well
The fourth allows you to run an inter-faction process well
The process is, of course, iterative.

The Delegatives judge the competency of others in their areas.
The Emotives assign people to positions.
Satisfaction is a sign of a healthy faction, and is a sign that a person is doing work for which they are naturally evolved.
Assigning people tasks to which they are happy is the task of the Emotives.
The Strategists decide what to do with the faction.
The Diplomats decide how to talk to other factions.

You could further subdivide any of these areas:
                            'Delegative of Emotives'
                            'Emotive towards veteran members'
                            'Strategist of Military'
                            'Diplomat to the Gaians'
Or, you could make people double-specialised:
'80% skilled Delegative, 70% skilled Strategist'

It's based on a Company Organisational Structure.
One part ensures people are happy
One part ensures people are useful
One part ensures tasks are efficient
One part ensures tasks are ethical
These 4 parts working in unison are what constitute the faction.
They must all be kept at good health.

                            ------

                            Pretty good, huh?
I had to improve The Matrix so that it varied from person to person, and this is the Alpha.

Please do not comment until you can offer improvements, or a better system.
Lack of simplicity is not a problem - this system is not yet bulky, and inability to understand new ideas is -your- problem.
