  • Orbital Station Question

OK this may be a dumass newbie question, but I recently dusted this game off (waiting for MOO3!!!) and have been having a blast playing on a huge map as the Gaians. Now to my question - I've built several orbital staions of all sorts. I have at least a dozen power stations , 6 hydroponics labs, and 2 or 3 of the nessus mining staions I just discovered. But when I look at the production readouts for my colonies, the base square doesn't seem to show any increase. Do these facilities actually work? Do they add the resourses, but not show up on the production screen? Is there somewhere else I can look to see what sattelites are contributing to the economy of a particular base? I'm not real sure if these things are working at all. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Yes, they work. You have to have an aircomplex to build them and they only provide full benefit to bases with aircomplexes and the benefit is capped at population size.

The following is correct I think.

If you have 6 sky farms, two sky mines and 12 power sats you would get:

In a size 6 base with aircomplex +6 nuts, +2 mins and +6 energy.

In a size 12 base with no air complex you would get +3 nuts, +1 mins and the same +6 energy.

In the first case you lose 6 energy due to pop size, in the second you lose half of everything due to the lack of air complex.

Should I see that production in the base screen on the central base tile? Because I have at least a dozen energy satellites, and if I look at a base with 30 population and an air complex ( I have space elevator, so that shoudln't even matter) I still see like 4 energy from the base square. It shouldn't matter which base I'm looking at as long as the pop is greater that the 12 sats I have in orbit and I have an air complex, right? Or do the sattelites only provide to the base that launched them. All I know is I have a bunch of sats, but the central base squares for all my bases don't seem to be showing any extra income. BTW thanks for the speedy reply!

No, you won't see it in the central base tile, only in the totals.

Yea, it's kinda hidden... but you get to keep the money, that's all that matters

IIRC, you can see the production stats (including the prod from stellar installations) of the bases hitting the F4 (or was it F5) -key.

And actually you see the effects on the base screen (in the three horizontal bars: Nutr, Min, Ene)
I'm not a complete idiot: some parts are still missing.

Yup thats where you can see it-- To test what you are getting for a given base you can add up all your nutrients, minerals and energy from the base square, all worked squares and crawlers for that base. You should find that your totals are higher than what can be explained from the base's own production. The additional resources are from the satellites. Whenever I have checked this, I have always found that the satellites work exactly as they should ( as explained by jimmytrick in an earlier post.
