Running SMAC at a resolution of 1024x768 will keep the windows taskbar from disappearing. This does not happen at any other resolution as far as I can tell. This is incredibly useful for IP or LAN games because all the instant messenger programs can simply be clicked open without alt-tabbing. Also, if you minimize SMAC at this resolution you get some crazy funky colors that look pretty cool.
