Ah, the original Serra Angel, but the illustrious Doug Shuler. Takes me back. Apparently I was one of the few people who recognized the pic right away, I assumed everyone knew what it was.

Definitely been hit by Asteroids before, my worst was a game on Librarian I was playing where my capital with _every wonder in my faction_ was instantly vaporized and replaced by a big crater. Needless to say, I was underpleased.

Oh well, I consider myself lucky not to be struck down by an asteroid... yet But I'd like to be hit at least once, just to see the spectacularity of it...

[Off Topic] Yeah, the original rocks! The 7th Edition version looks like a Valkyrie. [/Off Topic]

Cybergod, it is indeed a sight to see, in a sadistic sort of way.
Everything changes, but nothing is truly lost.

            The Vagabond lamented...
Unfortunately I didn't figure out the way to get rid of the nasty picture that also appears on the message. This picture gives me cramps and makes me feel very guilty.
Here is one way to avoid that (aside from not obliterating bases ):
In your main SMAC/X folder, rename "baseobl_sm.pcx" to "baseobl_smz.pcx", then copy "pop_sm.pcx" to "baseobl_sm.pcx".
Right-click "pop_sm.pcx" and select Copy. Right-click an empty area in the folder and select Paste. You will see a new file with the name "Copy of pop_sm.pcx". Rename this file "baseobl_sm.pcx".
Don't simply rename the existing "pop_sm.pcx" to "baseobl_sm.pcx", because you still need "pop_sm.pcx" for the population limit warnings.
The burning city will be replaced by throngs of citizens, and the original obliteration picture won't be lost.

I am on a mission to see how much coffee it takes to actually achieve time travel.
