  • Help!!!

    I have a 1.7Ghz pentium 4, and AC ran fine straight from the cd without any problems. I then installed the patch for 4.0, and it wont run. I get a screen that says alphacentauri doesnt support this processor, you can run the game but it may crash. When i say ok im dumped out! What should i do?

    When i originally ran the game, i got a sceen that was almost all balck except for my mouse and two boxes. i couldnt read them, but when i clicked the left one the game worked fine. I guess that was it

    I think the solution to this is to enter the "alpha centauri.ini" file, and add (or change) the file so that it includes:

    [PREFERENCES]
    ForceOldVoxelAlgorithm=1

    Probably at the very top of the file. Mine has the line already, but set to 0, YMMV.

            We need to put this on a 'Topped' thread or something - the number of people who ask it...
            "Love the earth and sun and animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown . . . reexamine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency" - Walt Whitman

              Chowlett did that 5 hours ago. Doesn't help, though, if people don't read the topped threads.
