  • SMAX runs soooooooo Fast

I just got a new computer and couldn't believe how fast SmaX runs now. I never noticed if there were settings to slow it down or speed it up. After being used to those foils and nettlejets ploding around, this super fast speeds are a bit un real.

Oh sure rub it in. You guys have p4s, and all I have is a p2!

Sounds like you have a P4. I have one as well. Amazing how fast things move!

There are a few settings from the "game" menu that select whether units move fast or slow. I suggest that you select everything slow except units under orders. Otherwise you won't be able to see anything but a blurr.

        I'd love a P4. Instead I have a P200MMX without so much as a graphics card.

(sorry to nitpick, but) how do you see anything?

The best PC I've worked with was Pentium 4 with 1.4 Ghz, 516 RAM.

Well, it's not so much the lack of a graphics card, but that the one I have is pitifully slow as to be almost non-existant.

I loaded SMAC on my laptop before going on a trip and it seemed to run much better than I would have thought considering its specs (only a P100). However, when I got to the other end, the computer was dead. Presumably a coincidence, but perhaps it was the Chairman (it was apparently thoroughly interrogated, unable to escape).

My 233 MMX gets the job done-- I mean -- doesn't everyone read the paper while the game is loading up LOL?

My comp is the same as cbn's. It's not bad for SMAX, but no Red-Alert2.
