  • Mein Evil Plan didn't work out!

    Here's the situation:

I am playing as Lal on the huge map of Planet. I occupy the Garland Crater alone. Across the Sea of Unity, in the Monsoon Jungle lies the heart of Yang's empire, consisting of 10 or so size 12+ bases, that pump out 6-3-1s like there's no tomorrow. Because they are all so close together (usually just 1 square) I get this brillliant idea of ridding myself of the Hive nuisance.
Sink him! All it takes is a couple of Sea Formers, couple of good ships to defend them and a couple 100 energy and I'll be able to do my own fully-controlled global warming with which to wipe out the Hive.
I send those forces out and make my two sea formers cooperate to lower the coast of Yang's territory, on which rests the Labyrinth. Just to make sure, I infiltrated Yang and constantly sabotaged the production of any Pressure Domes he might construct.

But when the shoreline finally burst, and great big waves closed in on the Labyrinth, a Pressure Dome magically appeared and saved the citizens' asses (they weren't building it, there's no way of them buying it).

    WHYWHYWHY!

Err...don't sink em. LEVEL EM WITH NUKES. THere, instead of dirty jungle you have radioactive plains.

Four citizens can die to make an instant pressure dome. So a city is reduced four in pop, but gets a pressure dome.

I think "sink em" was played at firaxis and found to be a bit cheesy.

The AI cheats badly in some situations.
This seems so be one I didn't knew until now.
But this may be the reason why another evil plan of me
(drowning whole planet by sea level raising through ecodamage) hasn't work properly.

Other cheats of the AI are the cheap bribing of bases
(I learned that in my last game, sigh!) and the parking
of needlejets and missiles in the air.

I hate this cheats of the AI. Some people argue that they equalize the AI's weakness, but that's not my opinion. Rules are Rules. And it **** if You loose because of an AI's cheat You didn't know.

Yes, the AI definitely cheats, but the pressure dome thing isn't restricted to the AI. If you don't get a dome in quickly enough when the sea level rises and submerges your bases, you'll see that your larger bases will survive, with some pop loss, and you will have acquired a pressure dome without building it. So it's really not an AI cheat, it's a standard feature of the game.
