Why no new Sprites ?

Even in the mediocre CTP, there was new unit sprites
popping up every week.
Have been puzzled why no one ever created better
looking unit sprites for AC. Especially since those
graphics was the one area most critized.
Anyone know why none was ever done???

ctp1/2 has 3d rendered units too

in fact some of the people who do sprites use 3ds max...

the answer to the question is that activision provided a srite utility...

Hmmmm, I guess with no sprite-unit creating tools ever supllied that would be the main reason.
It is a shame though. I think most CIV-related fans
agree that AC has great depth and diplomacy. Would of been fun to see what people could of came up with.
Oh well...
