This is kind of a basic thread telling the other people stories about games you've had. I'll start with my own.

I played as the Morganites and I managed to land on the Uranium Flats continent. Extra energy for Morgan is always a good thing. Anway I discovered Social Psych in 2111 as my first breakthrough. No doubt Zak probably got the first one. I founded my first base in 2115, and I called it Morgan Energy Monopoly. Being early in the game I poked around and explored. In 2121 I went Democracy/Free Market. However I wouldn't be like this for long.

In 2141 I was contacted by Santiago who wasn't happy to see me In 2159 I founded Morgan Trade Center. I just kept a buildin' away until 2170 when I met up with Lal and the Peacekeepers, to my angst they were on the same continent as I was. So I set out on the war path. I launched the first attack on U.N. Headquarters in 2183 with two Recon Rovers.

In 2221 I captured the last Peacekeeper base ending a 38 year war and allowing me to refocus my efforts on infrastructure. In 2241 I finally discovered Secrets of the Human Brain and in 2245 I completed the Merchant Exchange at Morgan Industries. Sometime during the 2250s I was contacted by Sister Miriam and the Believers who were also unhappy to see me.

In 2261 I was contacted by the Hive who declared war on me off the bat. However I was too far away to bother building nay forces. In 2266 ana election for Planetary Governor was held. All of this time I've been building my economy and infrastructure. The same year I'm contacted by the University who I establish a pact with. However Zak isn't happy that I've chosen Wealth over Knowledge.

In 2269 my problem with the Hive is solved when they are conquered by the Spartans. I've stayed neutral in all these wars building my infrastructure. In 2280 I notice that the Spartan and the Gaians are at war. The Believers are also in this conflict. In 2290 my Demo/Free Market/Wealth system pays off as I start the road to Economic Victory. In 2301 I finish the Planetary Datalinks. And in 2304 I build my first war vessel an AAA Chaos Crusier.

By this time Economic Victory is only 6 years away. In 2305 the Believers complete the Command Nexus. That could be scary later, but lucky for me it won't do then a whole lot of good In 2308 Santiago gives me Doctrine: Air Power, a pity I will never use it. And finally in 2310 Economic Victory is achieved.

Hopefully this has inspired you to share with us your own game experiences.

2250 I'm bored and shut the game off to go to bed...

2241 Secrets of the Human Brain!?!?!

    2304 First War Vessel!?!?!

    2308 Doctrine: Air Power!?!?!

I suppose I'm should be sharing my game experiences (and in a way I am). But, those dates are reeeaaaalllllyyyyy slow to be getting those techs. And in my experience I get those tech much sooner. I can't give exact dates because I don't keep track, but in my most recent game as the Gaians on a standard map no tech stag transcend iron man it's roughly 2280 and I'm gaining a tech every 3 turns. I also earn about 300 to 400 energy per turn. The most powerful offense and defense I have is 8 attack (chaos) and 4 defense (silksteel) though I have largerly ignored offensive/defensvie techs because I'm ahead of the AI already. I have orbital space flight and I am researching the tech to give me locusts of chivron. I also have Fusion Power and the ablity to produce clean units (I forget the tech). I am at war with the Believers and Spartans who don't have a prayer and I largely ignore them favoring infrastructure builds to boost my economy and tech output. The only other faction left besides those two are the Peacekeepers who also are doomed. I've refrained from using choppers or gas units to decimate the AI as I think that would be an overkill. So there, I'm done tooting my own horn.

Nice econ. win, was this smac or smacx, and what were the settings of the game and map size. I believe plant econ is on the same level as orbital space flight on the smac tech tree, so to have gotten it and win in 2310 after a 20 year wait is not bad on huge map with tough settings. Also Morgan can be a tougher go then Dee because factions normally trade tech more freely with the Gaians then Morgan. Combined with a huge map no contact for longer early game usually slows the tech race somewhat. Also if an enemy had the tech for a PB your capital is toast. Anyway nice work.

Yeah I finally got around to it in 2241.

I know. I didn't focus as much on research as I did on building my infrastructure. Remember I had a war with the Peacekeepers too, which took alot of my attention away from research.

The map was Map of Planet or default. I find it easier to use. And I used my own rules like Do or Die, Spoils of War, etc. And I was on Specialist level.

I should mention that I upgraded those two Recon Rovers to Impact Rovers, after I stole Nonlinear Mathematics from one of Lal's bases

by 2241, even on an easy going game, I would say I would be joining the fungus by then...

Umm.. Barbarossa, it appears from your post that you didn't found your first base until 2115, or your second until 2159. Is that right? In that case I'm not so surprised at the tech dates.

As for a story.. in a game I have going at the moment as Yang, it's 2300 exactly. I am reaping tech every 2 turns, with 1000ec profit a turn and ~28500 in the bank. I'm researching quantum power, and am two techs from researching Threshold of Transcendence.
I started on a polar peninsula on my own, and got 9 bases from it with ICS spacing. It also had a rather mean Uranium flats. Zak was on the island next door. Miriam has a huge continent with Monsoon Jungle, and quickly became my No. 2 in power. Zak pacted with me, everyone else pacted with Ms M and declared vendetta.
My only real offensive warfare has been against Dee. She was having quite a good go at Zakharov, and actually took two of his bases. Not bad, from her poor start. I sent in my air-force and blew her away, keeping one of Zak's bases in the bargain.
After that, it was just occasional air-raids on Miriam.
All of the AIs are using shard, which would cause my defenders problems if they could get close enough. The valient Hive air-force will prevail (for 6 turns or so..)

All in all, a pretty slow game. I could have knocked off 10 or 20 turns just by spending the cash more often, but I got lazy when I was ahead.

Transcend level, Large map, rainy and average erosion. Pods on, no Spoils, do-or-die.

All right! I’ve been hoping someone would start a new thread on this subject.

In my latest game, smac 4.0, thinker level (I hate smacx, so many bugs) I played the Morganites. I landed on Mount Planet that turned out to be part of a small island. Luckily, I was the only one on it and that allowed me to exploit the Morgan builder tendencies. The planet was mostly water, random map settings, standard size, with a large continent to my east and slightly smaller one further east. A relatively small continent containing the pholus ridge was directly to the southeast and finally there was an antarctic continent very distant from me. Mount Planet was on the equator mostly.

It took a while to make contact with the other factions, but I was finally able to pact with the Peacekeepers and the Hive. My Social Engineering settings were democracy/free market/wealth. I had a vendetta with everyone else, because of my free market/wealth stance. I was able to maintain friendship with the Chairman Yang by pacifying him with technologies and agreeing to his vendetta requests. Around 2250, a strange thing happened, Brother Lal contacted me and unexpectedly, he cancelled our pact. As the Hive was the most powerful faction on the planet, I changed to police state/free market/knowledge.

I attempted to avoid all war for the longest time, but finally Brother Lal, who was my closest neighbor, declared vendetta on me due to my police state, so I kicked the war machine into full gear. At this point, I had air power, chaos weapons, silksteel armor, and a few other choice early mid game technologies. I also had the majority of the secret projects. Brother Lal had the Maritime Control Center, the Citizens Defense Project, and the Weather Paradigm. He was ripe for the picking and the kicking.

Strangely, the Hive turned out to be a 100% loyal and a powerful partner in this game. The Hive had the large continent to the north east of my territory. He shared it with the Gaians and the University. To the east of Yang was another smaller continent that the Spartans clung to tenaciously. The Hive methodically obliterated the Gaians and the University. I helped in this endeavor by supplying the necessary technologies and a substantial loan.

As you may have the noticed, I haven’t mentioned the Believers, who are usually a major threat. The Believers were on the remote Antarctic continent and were technologically retarded as usual. They were more of a nuisance than a real threat. They and the Spartans would occasionally land a transport full of rovers and shock troops on my SW shore near the port Morgan Robotics. These piecemeal attacks were easily repelled.

Back to Brother Lal. Usually I can wipe out the simpering Peacekeepers without too much trouble, but due to my limited number of bases, seven, and the free market drones, I needed to fight a limited. I relied heavily on a fleet of needlejet interceptors. I haven’t really used interceptors much in the past, but I must admit, that I was able gain a huge tactical advantage over the AI factions, as they continued to rely on their needlejet penetrators. My Interceptors gradually wore down the Peacekeeper airforce and I was able to seize the Pholus Ridge from them. The rest of the Peacekeeper forces were in sea bases. Since I now had the Maritime Control Center, I created a kick ass navy full of Shard Probability Battleships. My navy swept the Peacekeepers off the surface of the planet. The Believer’s sea bases fell rapidly too. I left their land bases intact, as they were remote and unimportant. The Hive had kept the Spartans in check. I now turned my sites on them.

However, before I had a chance to mobilize against them, the Spartans lobbed two planet busters at me. Prior, despite my objections, the Atrocity Prohibition had been repealed, but luckily, my three orbital defense pods saved the day. After that, the Spartans manufacturing base was pretty much spent. I then started work on a Quantum tipped Planet Buster. When it was completed and my navy was in place, I nuked a central Spartan base in retaliation, wiping out five bases at once, and swept the remaining Spartan bases from the map, with my navy. By now I finally had the Hive outnumbered and won, MY 2375, through a conquest victory since the Spartans refused to acknowledge my status as Planetary Ruler. This is ironic as they were the ones who called for the repeal of the Atrocity Prohibitions.

I hope this long-winded tale didn’t bore everyone too much, but I thought it was interesting due to the loyalty of the Hive and indicative of the consistent treachery of the Peacekeepers.
