  • Help: Bad Police Rating - Planes in base create drones.

I cannot remember a way to avoid this problem:

I am playing as Demo, hence have very bad police rating. I am first to Doctrine Air Power and want to build up a large air force, but don't want to switch to Planned needlessly.

Can somebody please tell me if they know of a way of
    avoiding drones due to planes?

If all else fails, I suppose I might be willing to create a small base to dock my planes in and keep it full of specialists so that there are no drones.

    1) Make them interceptors (though they will still generate drones if outside your territory)

    2) Put a Punishment Sphere in one base, and rehome all the planes there

    3) Make a base (or several) all specialists, and rehome all the planes there

I tend to take the interceptor route.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

i prefer punishment sphere and giving that base a genejack and anything else that will increase military production to a unit/turn.

note, have a few of these bases or 1 well placed PB and bye bye military + main industrial base.

Well, you don't have to keep your planes where you rehome them, but if the base that supports them gets PBed, each of the planes will rehome itself in the nearest city, causing all the pacifism you would have had in the first place, and probably instant drone riots.

Build the Ascetic Virtues, and Brood pits in any base that builds/supports your choppers/noodles, etc.

By the time you have brood pits, though, you should either be hopelessly far behind or running away with the game. Every game I've played that has gotten to Biomachinery has effectively ended in favor of whoever gets the Cloning Vats.

I'd actually like to play a multiplayer game that makes it well into the late game but is still undecided, but the better I (and my opponents) get, the earlier the game is decided...

Admittedly, Pits do come along fairly late, however, even the 1 police jump from Ascetic Virtues will enable you to maintain a small offensive force, with a modest diversion of resources to psych. I'm just not a fan of the punishment sphere as a means to build a large force of units and go on the offensive, too micromanagement intensive for my taste.

If you need to go into a protracted offensive war, you need to switch to Planned or Green, depending on the size of your empire.
