Reinstalled!
A friend of mine got AC, so I figured what the heck- and reinstalled the game. Forgot how much fun it is. But I redid a lot of stuff in alpha.txt, to suit my own judgements and tastes.
Unbelievably, in my proto-type game with the enhanced alpha.txt, I just took over a base that Santiago had cleared out in the same turn, and she gifted me all of her attacking units in that area!
Never had that happen before.
