  • Has this ever happened to you?

Thinking of Mongoose leads me to ask this question while I am waiting bored and tired for my son to come home from his first prom.

Have you ever opened a PBEM turn thinking all was well and found only the smoking remains of your little empire, the stench of nerve gas or remnants of Planet busted dust hanging in the air?

Crawlers and formers vaporized. Bases reduced or gone, lakes of putrid waste where once your thriving peoples lived on the good, high ground.

    How did you feel?

    Come, tell me about it.

How long had it been since the last time you opened the turn?

i never play PBEM i always do ip games, just saving it and resuming it later.(or thats what i do in ToT-havnt played multi in smac yet)

i would plan ahead for this by making cruisers with stealth and carrier(or carrier and sub) capabilities, with a half dozen busters inside, behind his main base areas.theres usually a good place to hide.unless he uses so many busters every base is destroyed....

my feelings?pretty angry probably, unless i do the exact same thing to his faction

im realativly new to the forums-who is JAM?

Why are you thinking of mongoose ?? thats the second cryptic reference I have seen to mongoose in a MP thread.

Nope. If I don't have adequate sentries out or infiltration to know it was coming, I would never feel that "all is well" LOL. I have been nuked or gassed but I always either knew it was coming or knew that my little empire was pathetic and it was just a matter of time until I got crushed.

It sucks. Only in my "1812" game ( a 2player versus 2) have I been thoroughly and consistently nuked and I saw it coming. WE are to the point that there are no bases within direct nuke range of each other. Between worms, sea rises, gas attacks and nukes, each of 3 civs have lost more than half their population (my partner has been untouched). It is sad to see another size 14 base just disappear. The interesting bit is that despite the destruction of about half my empire it looks like my team still has a good chance of winning.

Just guessing: It's an attempt to prepare mongoose to what he will see when he opens the game this evening.
                  (I'm not MPing)
Why doing it the easy way if it is possible to do it complicated?

No one cared for the Birdcage reference, eh? Guess my clever remark was only amusing to me. Ah well, back to studying for finals.
