  • ai declares war with no dialogue

This happen to anybody else? I have the patch and so forth, version smax.

Sometimes, not often, I'll contact (example) peacekeepers (or they contact me). Without any demands are a dialogue, they will just come out and say "You will pay for this outrage! You be sure of that, vendetta on you!". Something like that.

HUh? Sure like to know what they were mad about.

Sometimes, somebody will contact me, no dialogue takes place, they'll just say "have it your way, but keep in mind friendship is a two way street".

Hope this isn't just me (perhaps a setting can cure this?).

In the one where they declare war without a demand you probably got framed for something. Now if you attack their pactmate you would get a war notification immediately and not in the diplo screens.

The friendship is a two way street one is something I have heard form them often but only when there has been some preceeding dialogue so I don't know what's happening there.

      SMAC is just mirroring real-life.
Since SMAX was released, the ways of waging war have changed.
The enemy now strikes without warning and without admitting responsibility.

Perhaps this AI is better than we thought?

My favorite is when the AI makes a pact with another faction to take you out. No popup or anything, just a little footnote at the bottom of the screen, as if it were equivalent to an alteration in rainfall or something similar.

That has bit me a number of times. Didn't even know I was at war with somebody for awhile.. until 20 thousand transports showed up on my land along with 50 thousand airplanes (ya right, like the ai is that smart).

Guess nobody has the problem I do as far as the other stuff. I know how the game works (been playing it since it first came out, lost 2 girlfriends because of it), I know how the "dialogue" should be. Think my mouse is wacky? Guess I need to stop putting fruit loops in it.

While I had SMAX, I was playing as Cyborgs. I contacted the Data Angels, who gave me the comm to the Peacekeepers. When I contacted Lal, he was Solicious, said his first hellos and all of a sudden I get the same message --> "you shall suffer for this outrage! Iwill make you pay for every one of your crimes"

Since I now play SMAC, I didn't come across the problem anymore.

i like those covert actions... framing the enemy with some probeteams is a nice option ... until he/she uses this strategy against me

              @ cybergod:
i posted a preview of your mod.
btw, whats up with your website "datatech"? there's a 404...

One cause (and quite possibly not the only cause) for these messages is associated with the use of Planet Busters. Say you have repealed the charter. Then you PB your enemy, but a base/unit of your pact bro is caught in the blast. Next time you call up your pact bro you get a dialouge something like this:
                "Hi"
"I hate your guts forever, something about bile"

But I also believe I've had unexplained dialogue bugs. But I havn't seen any for quite a while, so it may have been something to do with the patch level, or prehaps SMAC vs SMAX.

Thanks! Do you want any more files? Screenshots (which I don't have )?

I haven't posted anything on the site... (checking it right now)

                  *after 10 seconds*

                  WHAT?!?

Oh well, I'll make up something on my original site (www.geocities.com/kibernick)

Why the hell did they remove my site?!?

Do you want to betatest the mod?

Whoops! Getting too Off Topic here! Sorry

the "cjb.net"-redirector places this popup. the website itself is free of ads (coz its mine and paid).

well, use this url or install this excellent banner/popup/cookie-filter
